The Tourism Awards – Accolades and Recognition that Uganda has received
Uganda – Best Country to Visit – 2012 – Lonely Planet:
In 2012 Lonely Planet picked Uganda as the World’s Best Country to visit. Uganda- the Pearl of Africa – a country that had been off of the Radar for many African Travelers received another look, and many visitors followed.
Uganda to many had been synonymous with Idi Amin, and his violent reign or Joseph Kony and his feared Lord’s Resistance Army was now seen as a stable, peaceful, wondrous country to visit.
Even, Travel Agents around the world all over sudden began to consider Uganda the Pearl of Africa as a Tourist Destination, and people flocked here from far and wide.
The 2012 Lonely Planet Award that named Uganda as the best Country to Visit put Uganda on the Road toward Tourism Recovery, away from what we call accidental Tourism to purposed Tourism.
In 2013 Uganda was picked by National Geographic as one of Top Travel Destinations in the World:
National Geographic places Uganda as one of the Top-Travel Destinations in the World, and this was a big boost since it came one year after the Lonely Planet endorsement.
Two years in a row – Uganda receives the endorsement, recognition, and Awards by two distinguished Travel Organization – Lonely Planet in 2012 and National Geographic in 2013.
Uganda – the hidden Pearl in Africa – begins to regain its Luster as a Top African Travel Destination with its Wildlife Plus Primates.
The 2013 Award from National Geographic caused more to consider Uganda as their African Safari Destination. Travel Weekly came out with a feature “Consider Uganda.”
CNN – Travel Picks Uganda as one of the Top Destinations in the Wold the to visit in 2016:
In the 1960s, Uganda was the top travel destination in Africa – then came the Turbulent Times, and Tourism began to a halt.
Since 1986 under the leadership of President Museveni, the Tourism sector is being restored in Uganda. Each Year more visitors are arriving in the Pearl of Africa.
CNN – Travel recognized in 2014 that Uganda has re-emerged as a Top Tourist Destination in Africa since it offers more than what most African Tourist Destinations have to offer – Wildlife without the Crowds plus Mountain Gorillas and Chimpanzees.
In 2016 CNN Travel picked Uganda as one the World Destinations to visit in 2016. This was in addition to the 2014 article that Uganda was one of the Best re-emerging Tourist Destinations.
Uganda – One of Africa’s Friendliest Countries-African Economist-2014:
In 2014 the African Economist in a Survey reaffirmed what most visitors to Uganda already knew – that Uganda was one of Africa’s friendliest nations.
You can have all the Mountain Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Scenic Wonders, Wildlife and great National Park but if there is no friendly – welcoming attitude from the people than a most important element about a Safari Trip is Missing.

Uganda is receiving more and recognition as one of the best African Countries to visit.
This endorsement by the New York Times Travel Section is only further proof that Winston Churchill was right when he called Uganda the Pearl of Africa. It was just that then and is so now. Uganda – African condensed into one small country. Uganda is simply Africa without the crowds.
The reason that Uganda is receiving more and more awards, and accolades is that Uganda is unlike any other African Travel Destination and is one of the most bio-diverse countries in all of Africa. Uganda is Primates Plus abundant Wildlife and incredible scenery. They have improved Airline Service to Entebbe, International Airport.

CNN-Travel picked Kidepo Valley Park – East Africa’s most remote and unvisited Wildlife Park as Africa’s 3rd best Wildlife Park in all of Africa.

The River Nile that flows through Uganda was picked as one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders – 2013:
Uganda is home to the Source of the River Nile, and the Nile flows south to the north through the Pearl of Africa. The Source of the Nile and beyond is a prime adrenaline pumping Destination in East Africa attracting visitors from around the World.
One does not want to miss the most powerful waterfall in the world – Murchison Falls where the Nile tumbles down 44 meters through a 6-meter wide gorge creating almost a cauldron of rushing water, a most overwhelming sight as the power of nature is unleashed before you. It is quite a sight to behold.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Uganda – was voted Africa’s number one birding site (2012) by the African Bird Club:
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – a UNESCO World Heritage Site was named as the Number-1 Birding Site in all of Africa by the African Birding Club. Most visitors are unaware of this since Uganda is known as one of the best places in Africa for gorilla trekking.
The forest can be explored for birding from four different trailheads, and you can hike through the woods from one end to the other while birding.
Murchison Falls National Park was picked as the 9th Best Birding site in all of Africa by the African Birding Club.

Lonely Planet added Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to their unusual Honeymoon Destinations. We are always grateful for accolades that recognize the hidden parts of Uganda.
We have had many on a gorilla honeymoon safari in the Pearl of Africa and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in particular.
We find as do our Honeymoon Safari Clients that Bwindi is an out of the ordinary destination for honeymoons – sharing time with the Mountain Gorillas while staying in one of the luxurious Lodges found there.
Ssese Islands – Lake Victoria make the 2011 Lonely Planet’s List of the World’s Best Hidden Islands: Why would a landlocked African nation appear on a list of hidden desert islands?
Lake Victoria, the world’s second largest Lake as vast as a small ocean is a home to the secret Islands in the Sun – the Ssese Island is where you can relax and chill out without the crowds at the end of your Ugandan Safari.
The Ssese Islands tick all the right boxes for an island paradise – golden beaches, whispering palm trees, exotic flora, and fauna – they happen to be in the middle of Africa’s largest lake. Most of the 84 islands in the Ssese group are undeveloped, but a handful of resorts and beach camps grace the sands of Buggala, the private Bulago Island, Bukasa and Banda. Aside from basking in the sun, the main activities are combing the jungle for exotic creatures and canoeing, fishing, sailing on the lake.

Rough Guides Picks Uganda as the Fourth Best Destination in the world. Recognition such as this one is that added plus that Uganda deserves. A country that has had a troubled past and is still seen throughout the world through the lens of its history, Idi Amin and Joseph Kony and the Lord’s Resistance Army.
Rough Guides, once again remind people that Uganda is more, it is the Pearl of Africa, and its luster has been restored. The Tourism Infrastructure is being put into places with new lodges and hotels being erected, with roads such as the Entebbe Expressway and more.
Uganda – as Rough Guides sees it is one of the Best Destinations in the world.
Time and time again, Uganda is selected as a Top Travel Destination, and in spite of that, it is still Africa without the Crowds.
National Geographic Traveller UK – Uganda makes the 2019 Cool List – 2019
National Geographic picked Uganda once again for the second time in 6 years. This time is placing it on the UK Traveller Cool list. The reason in part, the price of permits for Gorilla Trekking, which made Uganda the logical choice for Safe, secure, and affordable Trekking.
Uganda, under the radar of many African Traveler, is certainly not under the radar of National Geographic, which has chosen Uganda twice in six years.
The affordable Gorilla Permits only enhance the attractiveness of Uganda. Uganda has become the premier Gorilla Destination in all of Africa.
National Geographic made the right choice by picking Uganda and putting it on its Cool List.
CNN Travel Picks Bwindi Impenetrable Forest as the most Beautiful Place in the World:
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest was picked in 2019 by CNN Travel as the most beautiful place in the world. The ancient Afromontane forest that has been featured as a backdrop to the Black Panther movie is now the Star.
CNN Travel picks us as the most beautiful place in the World. We happen to agree totally and so many of visitors who flock here each year to trek the Gentle Giants of the Forest.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to about half of the mountain Gorillas that remain, but it is much more than that. It also homes to Chimpanzees, Forest Elephants, numerous birds, butterflies, Afromontane plants and trees. A beautiful park that is a must to do and see.
Uganda – Huawei – Number 3 Must photograph Country-2019:
Uganda, in a study of Social Media Posting, came out Number 3 – it was the third most popular Destination in Facebook picture posting out of almost 2 million postings reviewed.
In particular, it was Mgahinga Gorilla Park that was the photo object and that most often included Lake Mutanda.
We always thought it was one of the most beautiful settings in Uganda, and the study only confirms what we had known.
Just recently one of our Clients wrote to us telling us how they found the scene from their lodge overlooking Lake Mutanda toward Mgahinga Gorilla Park.
Another Reason why you should visit Uganda, one of the most photogenic Countries in the World.
Best Hiking Trails in the World – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest:
Bwindi Forest makes it on CNN’s Best 2019 Hiking Trails in the World List. Aside from Gorilla Trekking, there are numerous Trails in and through the park, some with stunning views of ridges, valleys, streams, swamps, and waterfalls.
Not many specifically hike here aside from Gorilla Trekking or Birding. The most popular Trails are the hiking trails through the park from one end to the other.
The Hike through the forest is 5 or 8 hours and depends on which one you choose,
