Please Note: Only Uganda Tourism Board-licensed Operators, such as Kabiza Wilderness, can obtain Gorilla and Chimpanzee Permits from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
We have intimate knowledge of Uganda’s attractions, both on and off the beaten path, and we partner with the Uganda Wildlife Authority to sell and promote Gorilla Permits. While we occasionally venture into neighboring Rwanda, our primary focus is showing Uganda’s unparalleled beauty and cultural riches, the country we proudly call home.

- We are Licensed by the Uganda Tourist Board and the Ministry of Tourism, which means we are periodically evaluated to determine whether we meet and exceed the required Tourism Standards.
- We partner with the Uganda Wildlife Authority in promoting and selling Gorilla Permits, which gives us priority access to permits that non-AUTO members do not have.

Jon Blanc hails from Blaine, Washington, a small historic town on the Puget Sound. His international journey has taken him to France, England, Rwanda, and Kenya, where he has immersed himself in diverse cultures. By the time he ventured to Africa, his library boasted over 1,000 books in English and German focused on the continent.
Since 1992, Jon has been exploring Africa, beginning his career in humanitarian development in South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, particularly after the 1994 genocide. His extensive research covers Ugandan politics, history, culture, various ethnic groups, and the region’s flora and fauna, enriching his understanding of this vibrant country.
With a diverse background in sales, marketing, public speaking, storytelling, and writing, Jon has also gained experience in the luxury boutique bed and breakfast sector. He is an avid hiker and conservationist, dedicated to studying African life, history, and culture, focusing on Uganda, the Pearl of Africa. Notably, he introduced American-style customer service to the company.
Jon is the creator of Kabiza.com, which began in 2002 as a platform for insights into East Africa’s culture and traditions, evolving into a dedicated safari website in 2006. The name “Kabiza” is inspired by the Swahili word “kabissa,” meaning complete, reflecting the comprehensive nature of the site.
For Jon, safaris are not just a hobby but a passion. He introduces first-time travelers to Uganda’s natural wonders, welcoming and friendly people, primates, wildlife, and breathtaking parks.
Geoffrey Mugambwa – Director | Safari Implementation
Geoffrey Mugambwa is a partner at Kabiza Wilderness Safaris, bringing over 20 years of safari experience to the team. Born and raised in Uganda, he deeply understands the diverse needs of clients worldwide.
Geoffrey transforms plans into unforgettable realities as the craftsman behind our safari itineraries. His extensive background equips him to provide exceptional services tailored to our clients’ desires.
Geoffrey’s intimate knowledge of Uganda and Rwanda encompasses everything from parks to roads—whether paved or unpaved. He is exceptionally familiar with the wildlife of each park and reserve, making him an invaluable asset to the Kabiza Wilderness Safaris team. Much of the company’s success can be attributed to his expertise and guidance for our driver guides.
A passionate advocate for his country and its rich natural heritage, Geoffrey is dedicated to preserving Africa’s treasures, including its unique primates and wildlife. For him, the safari business is more than just a career; it’s a lifelong passion.
When he’s not immersed in the tourism industry, Geoffrey enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid British Premier League football fan.
