Why do you need a Licensed and accredited Safari Tour Operator?
In Uganda, many tour operators offer gorilla, chimpanzee, and wildlife safaris. However, not all are accredited by the Uganda Tourism Board or members of the trusted Association of Uganda Tour Operators. Licensed operators are the only ones authorized to obtain permits for gorilla, chimpaGorillala golden monkey safaris.
We have deep knowledge of Uganda as we live and work there. One of our specialties is securing gorilla permits from the Uganda Wildlife Authority, and we are well-versed in the entire process.
We are a proud Association of Uganda Tour Operators member and hold a license from the Uganda Tourism Board (License UTB/TT/82445).

Smart Safari Packing: The Ultimate Guide for Your Uganda Adventure
Packing for a safari in Uganda involves more than just selecting clothes; it’s about being fully equipped for a safe, comfortable, and unforgettable experience. Often referred to as the “Pearl of Africa,” Uganda offers a diverse range of activities, from thrilling gorilla treks through dense rainforests to relaxing wildlife safaris on expansive savannahs. Your packing list will vary depending on the activities you choose and the type of safari you’re embarking on.
If you are going on a Fly-In Safari, remember that luggage is strictly limited—typically 15 kilograms (33 pounds) per person. Therefore, packing bright and light is crucial. Many travelers prefer flexible duffel bags because they fit easily into small safari vehicles; however, a regular suitcase can be used as an alternative if you don’t have a duffel bag.
When packing, adopt the local mindset and dress “smart.” This means wearing practical, comfortable clothing in neutral colors, such as beige, olive green, or khaki. These colors help you blend into the natural environment, minimizing disturbances to wildlife and protecting you from the sun and insects. It’s best to avoid bright colors or flashy patterns, as these may scare animals or attract unwanted attention.
A good daypack is an essential item. This small backpack should carry your most important documents—such as your passport, travel insurance, visas, and tickets—along with essentials like water, snacks, and sunscreen. Your daypack serves as your safety net in case your main luggage is delayed, which, while rare, can happen.
By packing carefully, you ensure that you’re ready to experience all the wonders Uganda has to offer, making your safari smooth, safe, and truly memorable.
Essential Packing Tips for an Amazing Safari in Uganda
Bringing the right gear can significantly enhance your comfort, safety, and enjoyment during your safari in Uganda. Whether you’re trekking with gorillas or going on a game drive, there are crucial items you should never forget.
First, invest in a pair of comfortable, well-worn hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes. You will be on your feet for many hours, often walking on uneven or muddy terrain. Proper footwear helps prevent blisters and injuries. For your clothing, long-sleeved shirts and long pants are highly recommended, particularly in the evenings, to protect against mosquito bites and other insects.
When selecting colors, opt for neutral shades like khaki, green, or beige. These hues blend into the landscape and help avoid frightening wildlife. Bright colors should be avoided, as they can alarm animals or attract insects
If you plan to trek in rainforests or dense bush, it’s wise to bring gardening gloves to protect your hands from thorns, nettles, or rough plants. A wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses are vital for protection against the intense equatorial sun.
Given that Uganda’s weather is often unpredictable, especially in rainforest areas, a lightweight, waterproof rain jacket is essential. Rain can appear suddenly during gorilla or chimpanzee trekking, so being prepared will keep you dry and comfortable.
Lastly, don’t forget a small personal first-aid kit. Having basic medical supplies can be invaluable during your adventure.
