Kazinga Channel Boat Ride:
At 3 pm, get ready for a captivating Boat Safari ride along the renowned Kazinga Channel, famous for having Africa’s highest concentration of hippos. In the past, the area experienced an overpopulation of hippos, which led to the depletion of surrounding grasslands. Wildlife authorities used to cull them to manage their numbers. The locals would then consume the meat. During Idi Amin’s regime, poachers, soldiers, and locals took advantage of the situation, resulting in the shooting of many hippos. A similar scenario occurred again at the fall of Idi Amin, where rebels and soldiers targeted hippos.
As you glide along the channel, keep an eye out for the presence of crocodiles. Interestingly, crocodiles had been absent for thousands of years but gradually started reappearing in the 1950s, and their numbers have since increased. The shores and skies teem with countless bird species, creating a vibrant and diverse birdwatching experience. The channel offers a pleasant boat ride, providing ample opportunities to capture stunning photographs of elephants, antelopes, predators during the late afternoon, and buffaloes along the shoreline. You may even capture that perfect shot of a hippo with its mouth wide open.
Prepare to be amazed by the abundance of wildlife and birdlife that thrive in and around the Kazinga Channel. This boat safari promises a memorable experience and the chance to capture remarkable moments through your camera lens. Relax, enjoy the scenery, and revel in the wonders of nature as you cruise along this noteworthy waterway.
