3 Day Fly-In Gorilla Habituation Experience Safari in the Rushaga Area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
3 Day Fly-In Gorilla Habituation Experience Safari – Rushaga in the Southern area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. A 1 1/2 hour flight each way, one full day on a Gorilla Habituation Experience (4 hours with the gorillas). Take in some of the other sites and activities in the Rushaga area such as a Village Walk, or the Buniga Batwa Pygmy Forest Walk.
This Experiential Gorilla Habituation Experience Safari give you the most time with one gorilla family on a three-day Safari. You can stay in a lodge overlooking Lake Mutanda, in the Nkuringo Area, or the Rushaga area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
You have no long drive-times but are able to enjoy Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Mountain Gorillas.
Option: Instead of Flying from and to the southern area of the Forest you have the option of flying into Kigali where we meet you and take you to the Rushaga area in Uganda which is a three-hour drive.

Day 1 – Fly to Kisoro – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest:
The 3 Day Fly-In Gorilla Habituation Experience Safari begins. Our Tour Guide will pick you up at your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala for your flight to Kisoro with Aerolink Airlines.
They offer daily services to Kisoro and the southern area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest which includes the Nkuringo and Rushaga regions of the Park.
For your 3-Day Fly-In Gorilla Habituation Experience Safari, you have the choice of staying at Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge or the upmarket Gorilla Safari Lodge in the Rushaga area.
Buniga Forest Walk with the Batwa Pygmies:
This is an interactive Forest Walk with the first People of the Forest the Batwa Pygmies who have lived in the forest for thousands of years until they were evicted for Gorilla Tourism at the insistence of Conservationists and the Government in 1991.
This Forest Walk was started by a Conservation Society for Primates who have gone further and are now preserving the Culture and Ways of the Batwa who lived in harmony with nature and leaving a small ecological footprint.
They will show you how hey hunted and what they gathered including medicine for various ailments, some of the working quite effectively. This is a 2 to 3-hour long activity, a Batwa Village Visit can be added, time permitting.

Day 2 – Gorilla Habituation Experience Trek:
Early Breakfast and your Tour Guide will take you to Rushaga where you meet Researchers, trackers, Guides, Porters to take you to the Gorilla Group that is being habituated.
This is an all-day Trek which includes 4-hours with your Gorilla Family on the actual Gorilla Habituation Experience. The rest of the day is your trek in and your trek out.
A lunch from your lodge, you will need a daypack, 2 large Rwenzori Water bottles of water, 1.5 liters per bottle.
Your camera equipment, long trousers. waterproof hiking boots, long-sleeved shirt, rain jacket, hat, and tough Gardening Gloves. We get a walking stick for you or use one from your lodge. We also arrange a porter for you which will free you to take pictures, focus on the trail ahead of you as you hike into and out of the Forest.
After a short briefing, you are off for your Habituation experience of four hours with a gorilla family that is being habituated for trekking, meaning that they become used to humans. Since the trek in and trek out also takes time, it becomes a full day trek.
After your time is up you hike back to the trailhead with guides.

Day 3 – Return to Entebbe via Aerolink:
Golden Monkey Trekking
This Activity can be included if you take the afternoon flight from Kisoro to Entebbe. Golden Monkey T?rekking takes place in Mgahinga Gorilla Park which is a one-hour drive from your lodge.
There are about 3 to 4,000 Golden Monkeys living in the park in the Bamboo Forests of the Virunga Volcanoes that are in Uganda. This is a 3 hour Trek up to the Bamboo Forests where you will be with a noisy, chattering group that is every moving all around you. the Golden Monkeys are quite beautiful, grow up to about 15 kilos and enjoy Bamboo leaves. They are only found in the Virunga Volcanoes, they are endangered because of loss of habitat and because for reasons not yet figured out, the reproduction cycle is too low.
Please Note – the earliest flight back to Entebbe is at 9:20 AM.
Continue to Kisoro where you will have an early lunch and afterward fly back to Entebbe where our Tour Guide will meet you to either arrange for your transfer to your flight home, or to a hotel that we can arrange for you.

This fly-in Habituation Experience Safari includes Gorilla Habituation Experience Permits of 1,500 USD per person. It includes the roundtrip flight with Aerolink Airlines, a porter to make your trek easier, a village walk and a forest walk with the Batwa Pygmies.
Airport Drop-Off and Pickup is included in the Safari. This is a full-board safari at an up-market lodge in the southern area of Bwindi Forest.
The Gorilla Habituation Experience is limited to 4 participants and has to be cleared with the warden of the Rushaga area in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Cost for each permit is 1,500 USD per person and is included in the price of the safari as are all other activities listed.
The safari does not include – Drinks such as alcohol, sodas at the lodge, it also does not include tips.
