Tragedy Strikes in Queen Elizabeth Park on October 17, 2023
On October 17, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Queen Elizabeth National Park near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
British-South African couple David and Celia Barlow, along with their Ugandan guide Eric Ayai, lost their lives during a safari when their vehicle was attacked by some Allied Defense Forces Terrorists.
The Ugandan government holds the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) responsible for the attack, and ADF, a terrorist group that is allied with ISIL, has claimed responsibility.
The government has conducted a successful joint operation, eliminating the ADF squad involved and arresting their commander. The ADF, known for opposing the Ugandan government, retreated to the Democratic Republic of Congo after a previous defeat by the national army. They later pledged allegiance to ISIL and were designated as a “terrorist organization” by Uganda. For the latest security information, rely on reliable news sources or official government statements.
Our hearts go to the families of the Honeymoon couple and the family of the Ugandan driver. Uganda is doing its best to catch the perpetrators and ensure this incident will not be repeated.
Uganda’s Response to the Tragedy of October 17, 2023
