Your Murchison Falls Park 4-Day Private Luxury Big-5 Wildlife Safari begins – Depart your Hotel in Entebbe or Kampala at 6: 30 am and head for Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a 3-hour drive from Kampala and just below four hours from Entebbe.
Check into Amuka Lodge, where you have a large, tented Banda with an en-suite bathroom. You have a private verandah from where you often see wildlife pass through.

The Lodge has a small swimming pool near the main lodge building, a bar, and a dining area where your meals are served. BBQ, South African style, is the order of the day. Read more about Amuka Lodge:
Rhino Trekking on Foot:
Here you track Rhinos on foot in the company of Rangers, who guide and watch over you. This is one of the most exciting and novel activities on your Safari in Uganda. The activity lasts ninety minutes, and you have some great picture-taking opportunities. One of our clients won first prize after submitting a photo of a Baby Rhino with its foot on the mother and submitting it to Brussels Airlines.
This has been and is a safe activity for Safari Goers. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a highly secured, electric-fenced area to guard against poachers. Since its humble beginning in 2005, there are now 33 Rhinos found here, with more on the way. Uganda Wildlife Authority Rangers protect the sanctuary 24/7 and guide visitors to the Rhinos. What makes the cover unique is that this is done on foot, and you get within ten meters of the Rhinos.
Some of the Rhinos will soon be released back into the Wild. Though Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a large, heavily protected wildlife area, breeding them here was to remove them into the Wilderness, where the terrain and vegetation are like what it is here.
Lugogo Swamp Boat Outing:
It is time for the adventurous boat outing on the Lugogo Swamp in the late afternoon. Here you are, paddled through the swamp in search of the elusive Shoebill. Though the Shoebill is often referred to as a stork, it is not, and it is more related to Pelicans than storks. The word Shoebill comes from the Arab Ivory and Slave traders who referred to them as Flying Shoes. Hence Shoebill, who, like the crocodiles, goes back to the age of the dinosaurs.
The Shoebill mates for life. Both parents raise young ones. They feed on Lungfish and stand there until they are ready to strike down on their prey. Be sure to have your camera ready for some great photos.
There are other exciting waterbirds that you will see here and mammals, such as the Sitatunga Antelopes, otters, bushpigs, and others.
Your Swamp adventure will last about three hours before you return to Amuka Lodge for the evening. Read more about Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary here.
Meal Plan: Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner
Day-4: Murchison Falls National Park:
Depart Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary after Breakfast departing for Murchison Falls. We take what is called the Lodgecenic route to the Park. The route will take us along Lake Albert and the Western Rift Escarpment, with its dramatic views down to the lake and across to the Blue Mountains in DR Congo. We pass through idyllic fishing villages nestled along the way to the Park.
Our Goal is the luxury Nile Lodge in Murchison Falls Park. Read more about Murchison Falls Park here.
Nile Safari Lodge:
Check into the exclusive, intimate, eco-friendly Nile Safari with only eight Bandas overlooking the River Nile. This is one of Murchison Falls Park’s best luxury Lodges. It is a cut above the rest with its subdued elegance and style, and nothing compares to it. The perfect luxury lodge without the crowd is undoubtedly an out-of-the-ordinary one.
This Lodge is away from where most lodges are in a tranquil location and a club befitting the discerning African traveler. Although away from other clubs with the Paraa Bridge, you have easy access to game drives on the northern side of the Nile.
Nile Safari Lodge is a notch above the rest regarding rooms, meals, and service. The main Lodge has a bar, dining area, and a superb swimming pool with views of the Nile.
Since there are only eight rooms, an early booking of this Safari is required to ensure you can stay here.

Afternoon Boat Cruise on the Nile:
Another highlight of your Safari is the Boat Cruise, not just on any River but the historic Nile River. You will see pods of Hippos, sun-basking Nile Crocodiles, Monitor Lizards, elephant herds, groups of Buffaloes, and many water birds.
In the opinion of many visitors, this is the best Wildlife Boat Cruise in Uganda. The reason is the vastness of Wildlife that you see here, from Paraa to the Bottom of the falls. Idi Amin frequently steered his boat on this section of the Nile while he was president.
Sir Samuel and Lady Florence Baker: A hippo capsized their boat as they approached the falls. They were the first Westerners to see the World’s most potent Waterfall. Read more here.
The Movie “African Queen”: Portions of the Movie were filmed here. The 1951 movie with Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn was filled right here. Read more here.
As you reach the Bottom of the falls, you can choose to stay on the boat for the return trip or hike up to the top.
Top of the Falls Hike:
The guided Hike up to the top of the fallLodgees about 45 minutes. You are taking the trail that, in 1907, Winston Churchill took down where he was met by a boat that took him to Khartoum in Sudan.
Above the falls, you see how wide the falls are and on the descent down the Western Rift escarpments. It pours through a six-meter-wide cauldron. You will be amazed by the sight, sounds, and mist.
Near here, Ernest Hemingway crash-landed in 1954 and was given up as dead, only to be rescued by a tourist boat launch.
A few years back, someone came up with the idea of building a dam. However, there was such an uproar from conservationists and the tourism industry that it quietly faded away.
Your driver-guide will meet you here and return to Nile Safari Lodge, where you can relax and chill out before dinner.
Please Note: The Top of the Falls Hike is not possible at present since the water level of the Nile is too high to disembark safely. You will cruise back down the river to the Paraa area.
Please Note: The high-water levels on the Nile make the top of the fall hike impossible. However, we will incorporate a visit to the top of the falls into your safari. Read more about the most Powerful Waterfall in the world here.
Meal Plan: Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner
Day -5: Murchison Falls National Park:
Sunrise Breakfast Cruise on the Nile:
This morning begins with a sunrise Breakfast Cruise on the Nile, one of the highlights of your Murchison Falls Park 4-Day Private Luxury Big-5 Wildlife Safari. You have your chef aboard preparing breakfast the way you like it.
As you have your freshly brewed morning joe Ugandan arabica bean coffee with hippos and crocodiles. Wildlife watering on the shore, you might even spot the elusive Shoebill now and then. The boat breakfast cruise is truly a unique activity on the historic River Nile, the longest river in the world. Have your camera ready to take some great photos during this memorable activity.
At the end of your Sunrise Breakfast, you will encounter the Wildlife from your Safari Vehicle as we take a traditional game drive.
Late Afternoon Game Drive:
This is a late afternoon Game Drive in Murchison Falls National Park, where you will see Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, even patas monkeys, and much more.
On each game drive, you are accompanied by an experienced Uganda Wildlife Ranger with a weapon. The ranger will give you insights and information about the Park and the game you see. There is not much you will miss on a game drive between your driver-guide and the ranger.
The vehicle has a pop-up so that you can stand up for better game viewing and photographs. You can not climb on cars since that is against park rules.
Back at the Lodge, we suggest that you have the excellent Nile Beer while on the Nile. We are referring to one of Uganda’s favorite Beers, the Nile.
For a sundowner, try Uganda Waragi with Krest Bitter Lemon. Waragi is a term from War Gin, where the British used to give gin to Ugandan soldiers to give them courage as they went into battle.
Meal Plan: Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner
Day -6: Return to Kampala or Entebbe:
Breakfast and checkout of Nile Safari Lodge, and we take the last game drive on the north side of the Nile. There is now a bridge that crosses the Nile here, and one no longer has to wait for the ferry to cross over to the wildlife side of the Park. Hopefully, we will have seen the Big 5, Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes, and Rhinos by now.
Murchison Falls National Park is part of the African Wild, where unpredictable things happen. You never know what is around the next turn of the track we are on.
If You want steady pictures, we suggest you use a beanbag to rest your camera and get quality shots.
Please note: we cannot go off the track with the vehicle. Such an act is a fineable offense, and this is a rule that the Rangers enforce.
Additionally, they are in touch with one another and know where to find particular Wildlife that day.
Chimp Trekking in Budongo Forest:
After the Game Drive, we continue to Budongo Forest and have a pleasant lunch at the Budongo Eco-Lodge. After Lunch, it is time for the Chimpanzee Trek. The Chimpanzees here are under the care of the Jane Goodall Foundation.
The Chimpanzee Trek begins with an orientation where you are instructed on how to behave on the trek and in the presence of a Chimpanzee Troop. You should wear hiking boots, merino wool socks, long trousers, a long-sleeved shirt, and a hat. The trekking difficulty is easy and doable for most.
You are in the presence of the chimpanzees for one hour, where you can observe their habits and ways, having a fascinating time with our closest cousins in the forest.
Budongo Forest is the most significant remaining Mahogany Forest in East Africa. There are many fruit trees for the chimpanzees to enjoy in this vast forest.
Drive to Kampala – Entebbe and reach there as the Sun sets. We can arrange for a day or overnight room before your flight out.
Meal Plan: Breakfast – Lunch
