The Ishasha Plains are something to be explored and experience, it is a one of kind experience in southwest Uganda, it is home of the Tree-Climbing Lions and an abundance of wildlife, such as large herds of elephants, buffaloes, Topi and Uganda Kob Antelopes, there are also birds including the Shoebill Stork near the swamp areas. Add on top of that feeling of wilderness and the Ishasha Plains.
Ishasha is the best place in East Africa to see tree-climbing lions – there are about 50 of them found here that sleep away the day in the fig trees that grow here.
This 3-day Tree Climbing Lions Safari is a one of a kind experiential Safari in the less touristy Ishasha region of Queen Elizabeth Park.
Day 1-Ishasha Plains Wilderness:
We begin our 3 Day Ishasha Tree Climbing Lions – Wildlife Safari departing Kampala at 6:00 am heading west to toward Ishasha in Queen Elizabeth National park southern area of the park which has fewer visitors than the popular northern Mweya region of the – less visitor mean that the game drives are without the crowds that you find elsewhere – it means that you experience the African Wilderness as it can still be found here on the Ishasha Plains.
The drive time to Ishasha is about 7 hours plus reaching here at lunchtime and checking into the lodge that you have chosen.
Late Lunch
After Lunch we it is your first game drive in search the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha along with large herds of elephants, topi and Uganda Kob antelopes, buffaloes, leopards, warthogs, to name a few.
The tree-climbing lions which are up in the fig trees found here sleep the day away 15 hours or longer up in the trees. Ishasha is the best place in East Africa for tree-climbing lions and people come from far and wide to see them.

Day 2 – Tree-Climbing Lions:
Morning Breakfast at your lodge and off for a morning game drive coming across herds of buffaloes, elephants and countless of different antelopes, birds of all kinds around you, and most likely you are the only vehicle. A wildlife – on board to point out what you otherwise might miss.
Lunch
Late afternoon game drive down to the Lake Edward floodplains and you just might find a shoebill stork, if there is time to take this game drive. Look carefully and once again you will have the assistance of a Wildlife expert on board to help you and hopefully you will see an occasional leopard and spot more tree climbing lions.
Dinner

Day 3 Ishasha – Kampala: Breakfast and morning nature Walk with Uganda Wildlife Authority Rangers who will take you and show you the wildlife and birds, hippos found along the Ishasha River.
Lunch
Depart for Kampala and arrive in the evening in Kampala stopping at the Equator along the way.

Large Tented Cottages with all the comforts that you need. The main lodge for your meals, the lower beach area along the Ntungwe River where you can watch elephants come to bathe and drink water. Jungle Lodge at Ishasha – upper moderate:
This is a great upper – moderately priced lodge in the Bush at Ishasha. It is Italian owned and your meals often have an Italian touch to them.
You have a private tented cottage with bath, deck to sit on. Meals are in the main lodge.
The lodge is near the game drives so you do not have far to go. Here enjoy the quietness of the wilderness of Ishasha.
@the River Lodge – moderate – budget:
The @the River Lodge covers the gamut from budget to moderate. You can stay in a rustic cottage on stilts with bath. View the elephants come near, eat good food that is nicely served or you can stay in the budget accommodation with shared bath.
Watch the sunset down at the river with a cold beer or use the small swimming pool that is here at the Lodge.
