Things to do while staying at Mihingo Lodge – Lake Mburo Park
Here are some activities by Mihingo Lodge that are not ordinarily included in Safaris.
Horseback Riding Safaris:
Mihingo Lodge is the only camp in Lake Mburo that offers horseback riding safaris in Lake Mburo and beyond. While on a horseback riding safari, you can see zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, eland antelopes, and other wildlife in the Park.
Mihingo Lodge also offers overnight Horseback Safaris where you camp and eat in the bush, a most exhilarating experience for participants; you have a bush dinner and bush breakfast while on horseback riding safari.
Mihingo Lodge is one of the only lodges in a national park with horses. They are healthy and well-kept. Spanish Saddles are used for riding safaris.
All horseback rides are with guides that safely lead you through the Park.
Bush Biking:
Mihingo Lodge imported sturdy mountain bikes, which can be used for Bush Biking and seeing wildlife from the back of a motorcycle. This is another novel idea that Mihingo Lodge devised for its guests long before other lodges added biking in the Park to their activities.
While horseback riding remains the favorite, bush biking has become a close second favorite activity offered by the Lodge. Once again, this is a guided activity within Lake Mburo National Park.
We suggest an early morning bike ride before the equatorial sun rises, making it a more tedious task for many who are not used to the Equatorial sunshining during a bike ride.
Bike Rides can be taken within and outside the Park through village and cattle grazing areas.
Another one of those exceptional extras from Mihingo Lodge.
Running Wild:
Here is an out-of-the-ordinary activity while on an African Safari in the wilderness – Running Wild in Lake Mburo Park with a guide.
From 5km – 15km, the Lodge will tailor the experience to meet your needs with Mihingo Lodge Guides.
For the more adventurous, they can run on their own, as long as it is outside of the Park through communities near the Park.
The Lodge is outside of the Park, overlooking the Park in a buffer zone.
This will be the most different setting for joggers; you will undoubtedly encounter the giant horned Ankole Cattle – quite a sight.
Nocturnal Game Drives:
Mihingo Lodge uses t own vehicle for nocturnal game drives. The night game drive has become a real hit with the guests of Mihingo Lodge since it is time to see leopards out on the hunt after resting during the daylight hours. Lake Mburo has become best known for leopard sightings.
Seeing leopards on the prowl is a fantastic sight. Spotlights are used to illuminate the night. There are a few lions in the Park, but they are rarely seen, but their roar is often heard.
You will see other wildlife and birds, such as owls, as you slowly move along on the game track.
Let us know if you like to go on a night-game drive while staying at Mihingo Safari Lodge.
Wildlife and Bushcraft Classes for Children:
Mihingo Lodge is the only Lodge in Uganda that offers children’s wildlife and bushcraft classes. We have had clients’ children on family safari participate, and they loved it. It is an educational time beyond visiting the zoo back home.
Classes are conducted according to the ages of the children. This is an enrichi9ng time for them, and yes, it gives a break for the parents.
The children even receive a certificate at the end of their class from the instructor who has training in teaching children the ways of the wild in Africa.
Let us know if you want your children to participate in the Bush Craft Course since classes must be arranged in advance.
