3-Day Luxury Family-Kid-Friendly Wildlife Safari in Detail
Day – 1 – Lake Mburo National Park:
Your Kid-Friendly driver-guide will pick your family up from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala as your 3-Day Luxury Family-Kid-Friendly Wildlife Safari – Lake Mburo Park begins. It is a three-hour-plus journey to the par where our goal is the Family-Friendly Mihingo Lodge, where you will spend the next two nights. While traveling, there will be juice, water, fruit, and nut snacks for you and your children.
Note: Wearing the proper clothing on a Family Safari is essential – it protects your children from insects, nettles, thorns, and the Sun.
We reach Lake Mburo Park and Mihingo Lodge before lunch. Mihingo Lodge is an upmarket lodge that is the perfect destination for a family with children. The main clubhouse with its swimming pool is a most welcoming sight, while your tented cottage is out of the ordinary. The rooms are private tented cottages overlooking Mburo National Park, and even the bathroom comes with a view. The tented cabin is covered with a thatched roof, sits on a wooden platform with a deck, and can accommodate a small family in one room.
Mihingo is a luxurious, family-owned lodge in a magical setting adjacent to Lake Mburo National Park. Perched high on a rocky kopje, whose pre-Cambrian granite boulders were formed over 500 million years ago, it has spectacular views over a vast savannah landscape. Designed to blend in with its fragile surroundings, this environmentally friendly lodge offers comfort, relaxation, and the experience of being at one with nature.
An infinity pool overlooks the valley below, where buffalo, eland, impala, warthogs, bushbuck, and zebra can be seen at the waterhole. On the rocks, you may have the rare chance of seeing the resident family of Klipspringers. We cannot guarantee that you will see a leopard, but you have a good chance on a night game drive. As Rungwe Kingdon (the son of the well-known wildlife author Jonathan Kingdon and one of Mihingo’s guests) once told us, “I have seen more leopards in Lake Mburo National Park than any other park in East Africa.”
To further enhance your experience of wild Africa, Mihingo is the only lodge in Uganda to offer daytime and overnight horse safaris into the national Park.
The only regret that many of our guests have is that they wish they had booked to stay longer than only a night or two. We hope this website will help you see how beautiful things there are to do when you stay at Mihingo Lodge.
Lunch at Mihingo Lodge – they create children-friendly food here that the little ones will enjoy – the view of the Park is an excellent addition to the meal. Often while eating, you will see Wildlife below the lodge.
Afternoon Boat Launch Safari on Lake Mburo – the boat is a 16-passenger one, and life-vests are available for everyone.
You can see pods of hippos, crocodiles, three kinds of otters, and water birds, including Fish Eagles. On the shore of the lake, you will see Wildlife coming to the water and bathing, such as Zebras, Buffaloes, and Antelopes, large and small. Children who might have only seen Wildlife in a Zoo will be mesmerized by what they see.
Nocturnal Game Drive:
Night Game Drive where you and your family will see the predators such as Leopards and Hyenas on the p
Meal Plan: Lunch – Dinner
Day 2- Lake Mburo National Park:
Depending on the Age of the children – the parents can go on a two-hour Horseback Riding Safari through the Park – children can be assisted in doing the same.
Alternate Activity for Children: Wilderness and Bush Craft Classes for children are a fun time where they learn about plants, animals, and habits of animals, all in an interactive way. The instructor is certified in Bush Craft Activities, and children receive a certificate at the end of the class.
