Day 1 –Kigali -Rwanda to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Buhoma Area:
Your 7-day Twice-Gorilla Trekking and Hiking Safari in Bwindi Forest starts today. Depart from Kigali at 6:30 AM for a scenic drive through Rwanda to Buhoma Village in northern Bwindi.
You will lose one hour of crossing into Uganda. Have your East African Visa, Yellow Fever Certificate, and COVID Vaccination Certificate ready for the border, which takes about 40 minutes. Depending on road conditions, the drive to Buhoma will take around five hours or more.
Upon arrival, check into Bwindi Lodge for a warm welcome. This lodge is known for its excellent service and unique connection to the forest. It supports community development by training disadvantaged youth in hospitality and is a short walk from Park Headquarters.
You can relax at the lodge in the afternoon or visit Bwindi Bar for chocolate fudge brownies and juices. You can also explore the local community with a village walk or visit the Bwindi Community Hospital.
For a more cultural experience, join the Batwa Experience at 2 PM to learn about the Batwa people’s harmony with nature. You can also enjoy a bike ride with Ride-4-a-Woman, including a nature walk on the Waterfall Trail.

Day 2 – Gorilla Trekking in the Buhoma area
Today, you will start your 0 gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a famous national park. After a hearty breakfast, your driver-guide will take you to the Park Headquarters for a gorilla orientation.
Your health is essential. Before the trek, we will check to see if you are well. If you are unwell, you cannot join the trek. This rule is in place to keep both you and the gorillas safe.
During the orientation, the rangers will explain the rules of gorilla trekking. You will learn how to behave around the gorillas to keep everyone safe. After this session, you will begin your one-hour encounter with these gentle giants.
We will provide a porter and a walking stick to help you during your trek. The porter will assist you with your belongings and navigate the terrain, while the walking stick will give you extra support.
The trek generally takes three to five hours in the Buhoma area, and there is a high chance of seeing gorillas. Walking through the forest, you will enjoy the sights and sounds around you. When you find the gorilla family, you will spend one hour observing and taking pictures.
After the trek, your driver-guide will take you back to Bwindi Lodge. Here, you can relax with a free massage included in your stay.
If you want to keep busy in the afternoon, we can help you with different activities. You can bike through the scenic trails, visit the local village to meet the community, or go to the Bwindi Bar for coffee and fudge brownies.

Day 3 – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Hike from Buhoma to Nkuringo:
After a hearty breakfast and a packed lunch from the Lodge, you will start a 6-hour walking safari. Local guides, who know the forest well, will lead you on the trek,
After a hearty breakfast, you will pick up bottled water and a packed lunch from the lodge. Then, you will start a six-hour hike through the Bwindi Rainforest. Local guides will lead and share their knowledge about the forest’s animals, birds, and plants while keeping you safe. A porter will help carry your backpack to make the hike easier. Remember to bring two liters of water to stay hydrated, along with juice from local vendors and energy or granola bars for energy.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is beautiful and full of wildlife. It is home to over 350 bird species and more than 300 types of butterflies, so nature lovers will enjoy the view. As you walk through the greenery, look for playful chimpanzees and colorful colobus monkeys. You might also see forest elephants and shy bush pigs along the trails. Listen for the sounds of birds and the rustling leaves, and take in the scents of the plants.
After your hike, you can relax at one of two grand lodges, each with its own charm. This is a perfect way to unwind after a day of adventure.

Pack the essentials you used on your first journey as you prepare for this trek. Bring at least two liters of water, a packed lunch for energy, and any other vital items you found helpful before. Comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes are also essential, along with insect repellent and a camera to capture memorable moments.
You will have another chance to enjoy the incredible mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a highlight of your trip in Uganda, the “Pearl of Africa.” This experience offers you a unique opportunity to see these incredible animals up close.
Option: Gorilla Habituation Experience: If you want a more profound experience and permits are available, consider the Gorilla Habituation Experience. This full-day trek lets you spend four hours with a gorilla family in the southern part of the park. You will ride in a modified 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser for your safety and comfort. This ensures a smooth and secure journey so you can enjoy the beauty of Rwanda without worries.
Some items are not included in the package. Alcoholic drinks like beer, wine, or sodas at the lodges are not covered. Also, bottled water for your vehicle, laundry services, tips for staff, and travel insurance are excluded. This allows you to personalize your experience and maintain quality service.
Your package includes gorilla trekking permits, porter services, a walking stick, and bottled water. Most lodges provide WiFi only in common areas, but we offer a WiFi router for internet access in your cottage.
