We will pick you up at the airport and take you to the Value Plus Moderately priced Heaven Boutique Hotel. This hotel is in a residential setting with a lovely garden and a small swimming pool. Its excellent restaurant serves meals that will please you.

Day 1 –Kigali -Rwanda to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Buhoma Are
Day 1: Drive t to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Buhoma Area
Your 7-Day Twice-Gorilla Trekking and Hiking Safari in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest begins today. Depart from your accommodation in Kigali at 6:30 AM, taking a scenic route through the rolling terraced hills of Rwanda into the Ugandan Gorilla Highlands, heading towards Buhoma Village in northern Bwindi.
Due to the time zone difference, you will lose one hour as you cross the border into Uganda. Ensure you have your East African Visa, Yellow Fever Certificate, and COVID Vaccination Certificate ready, as the border crossing typically takes about 40 minutes. The drive to the Buhoma area will take around five hours or more, depending on the day’s road conditions.

Day 2 – Gorilla Trekking in the Buhoma area:
Today marks the beginning of your extraordinary gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. After a satisfying breakfast, your driver-guide will accompany you to the Park Headquarters for the gorilla orientation.
Your well-being takes precedence during the orientation. Your health this morning will be assessed, as any illness disqualifies a trekker from the encounter. This precaution is in place to ensure your safety and the well-being of the gorillas.
The rangers will acquaint you with gorilla trekking rules, and then you will embark on your one-hour encounter with the gentle giants of the forest.
We provide a porter and a walking stick to facilitate the trek, both essential for a successful gorilla trek.
With an almost 100% success rate for gorilla trekking, the trek with the Gorilla Family encounter will take three to five hours in the Buhoma area.
Following the trek, your driver-guide will escort you back to Bwindi Lodge, where you can indulge in a complimentary massage as part of your stay. If you’re interested in afternoon activities, we can organize a bike ride through scenic trails, a village walk to engage with the local community or a visit to the renowned Bwindi Bar for a delightful coffee treat accompanied by fudge brownies.

After a hearty breakfast and packed lunch from the lodge, you’ll embark on a 6-hour walking safari. Guided by experienced locals intimately familiar with the forest, you’ll have a porter to assist with your backpack, enhancing your hiking experience. Carrying two liters of water and juice from local vendors and some energy bars or granola bars is recommended.

Day 5 – Hike to Lake Mutanda – Paddle across it in Dugout Canoe:

Today’s journey takes you downhill through charming villages and hamlets, with the majestic Virunga Volcanoes and the shimmering lake as your companions.
Upon reaching Mutanda Lake Resort, you’ll cross the lake in a traditional dugout canoe, crafted as they have been for centuries. The only modern addition is the life jackets for safety. Today is your choice day! You can select from several exciting activities:
- Volcano Climbing: This adventure involves steep hiking and climbing sections with the help of porters and rangers. The off-the-beaten-path experience sets it apart, ensuring you have the trail to yourself and a few fellow trekkers, making it a genuinely exclusive adventure. There are three volcanoes to choose from. The climb is five to eight hours long. A moderate fitness level is required.
- Gorilla Trekking: Trek, the mountain gorillas on the Sides of the Virunga Volcanoes in Mgahinga Gorilla Park. You will go on a thrilling trek to observe the magnificent mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. This unforgettable experience offers a unique glimpse into the lives of these incredible creatures.
- Batwa Cultural Trail: Hoin the Batwa Pygmies, the original inhabitants of the forest, on an interactive walk. It does not include beer, wine, alcohol, or sodas at lodges, bottled water in the vehicle, laundry, tips, or travelers’ insurance.

The 7-Day Twice-Gorilla Trekking and Hiking Safari includes an experienced Ugandan driver-guide, ensuring an enjoyable experience. You’ll receive a warm welcome with a gift and an informational packet upon arrival. Full-board lodging covers all meals, excluding alcoholic drinks, sodas, and additional snacks. At the same time, our luxury lodges offer a range of non-premium beverages, ensuring you feel pampered and indulged. You’ll travel in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof equipped with a fridge, WiFi, and bottled water.
Gorilla trekking permits, porter services, a walking stick, and bottled water are included. While most lodges provide WiFi only in common areas, we offer a MiFi router for internet access in your cottage. Dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice, though strictly kosher requirements cannot be met. Automatic AMREF-Flying Doctors air-medivac insurance is also included for medical emergencies.
