The Covid Pandemic Restrictions in March of 2020 brought Kampala’s Nightlife to a screeching halt. Bars were closed, concerts not permitted, and curfews remained in place. For two years, instead of partying, Kampala slept at night.
Fortunately, Uganda, including Kampala, escaped the harshness of the coronavirus that Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia experienced. At present, Uganda is a safer travel destination with no Covid hospitalized cases.
Many rejoiced when on January 23, 2022, President Museveni announced that schools and, yes, Bars could reopen the next day, and all curfew restrictions were lifted.
Monday, January 24, Ugandans celebrated all night long, and the party has not stopped since then. Kampala, the City that never sleeps, has reawakened from its long slumber to the delight of many far and wide.
Once again, Kampala will become the African nightlife tourist destination that is was before the pandemic. Once again, there will be live concerts large and small, and the sound of Music and dance will break the stillness of the night.
