Experience Incredible Wild Encounters in Uganda:

 Incredible Wild Gorilla Encounters:

Uganda has become the Premier Gorilla Trekking Destination.  Affordability is a significant reason. The other is that Uganda delivers incredible wild Gorilla Encounters in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla Park.

Uganda is the only Mountain Gorilla Destination that offers more time with a Gorilla Family with half the number of participants (4) on a Gorilla Habituation Experience. Uganda offers Wild Gorilla Parks in two different parks.  Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. CNN Travel declared the park the most beautiful place in the world in 2019.  Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is also home to over 300 Chimpanzees making it the only park where Mountain Gorillas and Chimpanzees can be found.  Please Note- Chimpanzees are not tracked here for conservation reason. Mgahinga Gorilla Park in 2019 became the 3rd Must Photograph destination in the world. Gorilla Trekking is done here on the Ugandan Virunga Volcanoes. This location has the fewest tourists and for that reason alone is the preferred choice of many Gorilla Trekkers.

Incredible Wild Chimpanzee Encounters:

Uganda is the best country for Chimpanzee Trekking in East Africa. There are over 5,000 Chimpanzees throughout the country. 1,500 plus in Kibale Forest alone. You can trek Chimpanzees in the famed Kyambura Gorge, Budongo Forest, Kalinzu Forest, the Semliki Valley, and the best Chimpanzee Park in all of East Africa, Kibale Forest.

Thirteen different Primate Species are found in Kibale Forest, a tropical Rainforest where the Central African Jungle meets East Africa.

Like with Gorillas, you have a choice as to how long you would like to be with a Chimpanzee Troop.  There is the typical Chimpanzee Trek where you are one-hour with a Chimpanzee Family. There is also the all-day Chimpanzee Habituation called CHEX.  The latter means a lot walking through the Forest. In recent times more are choosing the all-day Chimpanzee Habituation over Chimpanzee Trekking.

 Incredible Wild Golden Monkey Encounters:

Uganda is the Best Country for Golden Monkey trekking. Uganda has the most significant number of endangered Golden Monkeys in Mgahinga Gorilla Park. They are only found in the Virunga Volcano Chain. The Golden Monkeys are often overlooked by Gorilla Trekkers, not realizing how easily one can combine Gorilla with Golden Monkey Trekking.

The monkeys are beautiful primates, have a colorful coat, and weigh about 15 kg. They reside in the Bamboo Forests of the Volcanoes. A troop of Golden Monkeys numbers up to 100. They are noisy, playful, and all around you.

You can choose between a regular Golden Monkey Trek where you are for one-hour with a Golden Monkey Troop. Your other choice is to spend Four-hours with the Golden Monkeys on a Golden Monkey Habituation Experience.

The Tree-Climbing Lions can easily be combined with a Gorilla Trekking Safari in the Buhoma area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

In Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth Park you can do something that is totally out of the ordinary.  You can participate in the Lion Tracking Research that tracks collared lions on the Kasenyi Plains of Queen Elizabeth Park. This is with the Uganda Carnivore project. A project that works with the local community that surrounds Queen Elizabeth Park’s Mweya area. This is a one-of-a-kind wild-encounter experience that you will not soon forget.

Since 1986 Uganda’s Elephants have been on the rebound, and in some parks, they are back to the 1960s levels.  Uganda has both Savannah and Forest Elephants.  Most will not be able to tell the difference. Forest Elephants are smaller in size, have straight tusks, and are a bit more reddish. Forest elephants are found in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Mgahinga Gorilla Park, Kibale Forest and in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon.

Elephants are most often seen on game drives but are also be encountered on hikes, treks and a nature walk in various parks.
