Rough Guides picked Uganda as the 4th Best Country to visit in 2017
Rough Guides Picks Uganda as the 4th Best Country to see: We at Kabiza Wilderness Safaris were elated when we heard that Rough Guides, that venerable guidebook of adventurous travelers, has rightly chosen our bountiful nation as the 4th best country in the world to visit.
This accolade filled us with pride for Uganda – a land I call home and consistently seek to honor through our work. We at Kabiza Wilderness Safaris strive daily to share the wonders of this blessed by nature country with visitors from faraway places such as Europe, the Mideast, Asia, north America and Australia, and beyond.
Rough Guides saw what we see in Uganda – a natural abundance and cultural richness like no other on earth. They recognize our alluring wildlife through various game drives and trekking with the mountain gorillas. They appreciate the warmth and depth of our multitudinous cultures, evident in traditions like the descendants of ancient kings laid to rest at Kasubi tombs.
And most of all, Rough Guides has experienced the openheartedness of Ugandans, who share in the universal spirit of Ubuntu that binds us all in a common purpose. They have glimpsed what I know in my heart to be true – that Uganda is more than just a country; it is a spirit; more than geography, it is grace, welcoming, Friendliness, and African Hospitality; it is the pearl of Africa.
The award bestowed on Uganda by Rough Guides rekindles a renewed commitment to safeguarding Uganda’s wonders for future generations. And let us welcome with open arms the travelers who will soon arrive, full of curiosity and wonder, seeking a glimpse of the ineffable magic that makes Uganda not the 4th best country – but the best country of the heart.

As a Ugandan Tour Operator, we are very grateful that the Pearl of Africa was once again recognized as one of the Best Travel Destinations in the world with the likes of India, Scotland, Canada, and others. No other East African Country was on the list, and the only additional African named was Namibia at Number – 9.
Why does Uganda continuously receive accolades from Major Travel Organizations such as Lonely Planet, National Geographic, and now Rough Guides – for the same reason that Winston Churchill became enamored with Africa –
“For magnificence, variety of form and color, for the profusion of brilliant life — bird, insect, reptile, beast — for vast scale — Uganda is true “the Pearl of Africa.”
The Kingdom of Uganda is a fairy tale. The scenery is different, the climate is different, and most of all, the people are other than anything elsewhere to be seen in the whole range of Africa….what message I bring back…. concentrate on Uganda.
From end to end, Uganda is a ‘beautiful garden’ where the ‘staple food’ of the people grows almost without labor. Does it not sound like a paradise on Earth? It is the Pearl of Africa.” Winston Churchill – My African Journey – 1908.
Uganda is making efforts to get the word out in the US, the UK, and Europe that Uganda is a choice Safari Destination for the Africa Traveler, to make Uganda the premier East African Safari Destination once again it was. Yes, more people are visiting the Pearl of Africa on Safari. Read more here.
