Lake Kivu Serena Hotel – on Lake Kivu Gisenyi – 4 Star Beach Hotel
The Lake Kivu Serena Hotel -located on one of the longest, sandy beaches along Lake
Lake Kivu Serena Hotel – on Lake Kivu Gisenyi has had many name changes, has a long history, during the Genocide of 1994 it even was the interim Government Headquarter of the genocidaires before they fled into the Democratic Republic of Congo but fortunately the highly esteemed Serena Hotel Chain has taken over (formerly the Kivu Sun) and given the Hotel their input, wisdom, experience and the touch of class that they bring to their establishments.
If you have been on safari in Rwanda and other parts of East Africa the Lake Kivu Serena Hotel will be most different experience for most, however you are in hotel with a high standard. We normally do not use larger hotels on safari instead using more intimate lodges except when you arrive in Africa or the day before your departure. However the Lake Kivu Serena Hotel offers some options that are not found elsewhere such as the long beach, the many activities, the choices of comfort, one of the most fabulous swimming pools around and just maybe some comforts that you might not have had while you have been on safari even if you were traveling in upmarket comfort and style.
At the Lake Kivu Serena Hotel – on Lake Kivu Gisenyi you will have 66 rooms to choose from including executive suites and family friendly rooms all with a balcony with seating and a view of Lake Kivu, bath, air-conditioning, satellite television, WiFi and tea or coffee-making area. You also have your own private safe, telephone, hairdryer and 24 hour room service is available, things that you have not had while on safari. The suites also have a minibar and an extra bathroom. All in all standards that you might be used to during travels to other places, however you have the added plus of Lake Kivu, a long sandy beach
Lake Kivu Serena Hotel has 66 luxury rooms, suites and family rooms all with contemporary furnishings and en suite facilities. A lovely feature of every room is a private, furnished balcony with wonderful views over the Lake.
All rooms feature air-conditioning, satellite television, WiFi, tea / coffee-making facilities, private safe, telephone, hairdryer and 24 hour Room Service. The Suites also have a seating area, minibar and extra w.c.
There are lots of things to do and see while staying at the Lake Kivu Serena Resort – of course there is the pool and the beach, besides the pool there is the Maisha Health Club with a state-of-the-art gymnasium, cardio studio and various treatment rooms to rejuvenate you after a work out or you just might be pampered after those long gorilla treks.
For breakfast – could one say choices, choices and more choices, simply an extensive buffet style breakfast with individual orders for various egg dishes cooked to order. Lunch and dinner can be either a buffet or à la cart in the Kiyaga Restaurant. Rwandan, African and International Cuisine choices are available to you. Each month there is even a beach party with a buffet by the lake, a good old-fashioned beach bonfire and yes, live music.
Down by the beach there is also the Ziwani Café which is below the pool and where a variety of snacks and drinks can be had and enjoyed. It also the place for evening sundowners (sun sets before 6 pm – Central African Time) and there are poolside BBQ’s and the local traditional music and traditional Intore Dancers.
The Lake Kivu Serena Hotel – on Lake Kivu Gisenyi gives a lot of value for what you are paying for and activities here abound including various water-sports. There are other things we can schedule into your itinerary during your stay here that many have enjoyed.
