Villages and settlements, markets, businesses have been relocated to higher grounds. Major Hotels are flooded or under threat of being flooded. The Ssese Islands areas are flooded, or portions have become floating islands in the lake. The River Nile is overflowing. Ferry services have been stopped including in Murchison Falls Parl.
Ugandan Homes, businesses, Curches accommodations have all been flooded by rising Lake Victora.
The fisheries and marine transport infrastructure have been devastated by the flood. The Ugandan government is battling to save the three major hydropower dams on the Nile River, which produce most of the country’s electricity.
Ferry services between the mainland and the Ssese islands have were suspended due to flooded docks like ferry service in Murchison Falls Park. Even the new Kampala-Entebbe Express is under threat in places.
Luxury hotels like the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Course, the Country Lake Resort Garuga, and the Marriot Protea in the Entebbe area and Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala are underwater, as rains pound the greater Nile Basin. Basin.
The question of the hour is whether the beaches, landing sites, and some islands they have known all their life will resurface. The shoreline of old has shifted about 35 meters inland.
It is not only a Ugandan problem, but Kenya and Tanzania are greatly affected by the flooding.
