More Time with Gorillas on the Gorilla Habituation Experience in Uganda Gorilla Habituation Experience in Uganda
The Gorilla Habituation Experience in Uganda has become quite popular since its inception, actually more popular than the available permits during many months of the year. The reason is simple. Trekkers have more is the more Time with the Great Apes in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. That more time is the primary reason that many choose the Gorilla Habituation Experience rather than a regular Gorilla Trek even though the Permit Price is $1,500, $900 more than usual Gorilla Trekking.
The Gorilla Habituation Experience differs from the typical Gorilla Trek in that you are an active participant in the Habituation Process. You become part of the habituation team. You are not just a spectator but an active participant in the process of Habituation. What you gain on this day of your Encounter with the Gentle Giants of the Forest far outweighs the cost of the Safari
4-Hours with a Gorilla Family in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest on an all-day trek with Conservationist, Rangers, and Researchers. Add to that the Benefit of fewer participants. If you want no other participants besides yourself, that too can be arranged. Just let us know.
The Gorilla Habituation Experience in Uganda takes place in the Southern Area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the Rushaga Region. In 2019 there are only 4-Permits a day since there is only one Group presently undergoing the Gorilla Habituation Process. Since the beginning of this activity in 2016, there has only been few that have been part of the Gorilla Habituation Experience compared to the thousands that have been on a usual trek. 99% of those that have participated have loved it resulting in raves such as this one from one of our clients who called it “the Icing on the Cake of our time on Safari in Uganda.”
Many African Travelers are in search of that “Gorillas in the Mist” – Dian Fossey Moment, that David Attenborough moment in time as he lingered among the Gentle Giants of the Forest. Nothing can replicate their moments in time with the Gentle Giants of the Forest, the Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is about as close as you can get without being a Researcher, ranger or tracker. Not only moments of Discovery the Habituation Experience is learning about the Primates and their ways, conservation and how the endangered Primates are on a comeback from near extinction and that in large part due to Gorilla Tourism and permits that pay for a large part of the conservation effort.
The Gorilla Habituation Experience is not for everyone. It takes more effort, more money for permits, at times more endurance since you are four hours with a Family plus there is the trek in and the trek out. It takes a better than moderate fitness level to do the Habituation Experience. We suggest taking long walks, or even hikes before your arriving in Uganda.

The Gorilla Habituation Experience – Our Take:
We are a Gorilla Tour Operator. We act as a facilitator, a sort of matchmaker. We set and arrange the date and the meeting, however, we do not control that takes place in your pre-arranged meeting, not even the rangers and trackers do that. You are not in a controlled situation. You are in the wild, where sometimes things are predictably unpredictable, and it is all up to the Mountain Gorillas.
You are visiting a gorilla family in their living room in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, and what takes place is up to the gorillas. Our clients have called this experience, beyond expectations, unbelievable, better than expected.
2019 requires your flexibility in planning this activity since there only four permits per day compared to 160 regular gorilla trekking permits – many times, we have to inform potential clients – no more habituation permits. Plan ahead and avoid the number one mistake in booking a Gorilla Safari, that one being that you make plans all over East Africa and try to add on Gorillas at the end – often resulting in no permits.
