Kidepo Valley Park is where you will experienced the untamed wild of Africa in all  of its splendor while at Murchison Falls National Park you can witness the most powerful waterfall in the world.  Take a boat safari on the River Nile up to the falls and watch the wildlife on the banks of the river.

This is simply an amazing safari, out of the ordinary and for the most part off of the beaten path for you to enjoy Africa, Uganda in a way that few people do.

Day 1 – Drive to Kitgum:

Depart Kampala at 6:30 am and head north for the town of Kitgum, a full day’s journey – long but quiet scenic in nature – lunch along the way with two soda s or one beer. Bottled water is in the vehicle for your comfort and well-being.  We will stop along the journey for picture-taking and for you to stretch your legs during this 8 hour plus journey.  One of the reason that Kidepo Valley Park is as remote as it is.

We arrive at Fugley’s Guest House – clean – comfortable, good food (expats come from miles around for a reprieve here), there is a swimming-pool and it is the perfect place for a night’s rest before continuing to Kidepo Valley Park the next morning.

The rooms are on the basic side – the welcome, food, pool and cold beverages make up for it. Enjoy your dinner at Fugly’s in Kitgum.  The Bomah Hotel is an older hotel in Kigum, it does have a swimming pool and more basic fare, however one can order Indian style Cuisine items for dinner.

Day 2 – Kidepo Valley Park:

 Early Breakfast and we continue our journey to Kidepo Valley Park arriving there around lunchtime.  The journey there is through diverse and rugged terrain than what you have seen thus far in Uganda.

Check into the upmarket, the only upmarket lodge here  Apoka Safari Lodge:  Upmarket – Luxury lodge strategically located in the park itself.  Beautiful – classic safari lodge, swimming pool, wildlife all around.  Superb Tented codttages with all the comforts one needs, including a wonderful stone soaking tub outside of your cottages.

Apoka Lodge is upmarket comfort in Uganda’s true wilderness, there is the pool, the stunning views of the rugged scenery all-around – the stillness only broken by the sounds of the African Wild. Apoka Safari Lodge is like an oasis – a luxurious place of rest and relaxation after a day out on game drives, hikes in and near Kidepo Valley Park.

Lunch

Late Afternoon Game Drive through the Narus Valley where you will sight herds of buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, zebras and hopefully some lions, leopard and the elusive cheetah.  Besides that there are the many birds you might find along the way.

This is a slow drive so that you do not miss anything, stopping wherever you desire to take pictures of the fabulous wildlife and birds, fauna and flora along the way.

Return to the lodge for dinner to the sights and sounds of the Kidepo Valley around you.

Day 3 – Kidepo Valley Park: 

 Arise to a fabulous breakfast and a cup of coffee or tea while you peruse the landscape and wildlife around you in the remotest corner of Uganda and yet it is in class and style.  The perfect African dream vacation.

After breakfast it is off to another exciting game drive across savannah, hills, small forests, dry river beds and always the rings of mountains around you.  Animals and birds to observe, plants and trees that will amaze you as they exist in this semi-arid region of Uganda.

We are off to Karankorog Hot Springs with lots of wildlife along the way.  No game drive is the same even if you took the same route twice, there is always something new to seen and found.  The scenery, animals, birds will amaze you and it is best to keep the camera close at hand to get the best shots along the way.

Lunch at the Lodge and then it off for an afternoon with Karamojong people cultural tour about how this proud tribe that has refused most influences for change lives in this arid region called Karamoja.  You will be visiting a traditional Manyata – village where the Karamonjong )Karim ojong Nomad Herders – Warriors live when not leading their cattle to fresh pastures.

Their love for cattle is comparable to the better known Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania. Their ways are unique to them and they are a proud warrior like people who believe that is their God given right to cattle, even cattle belonging to others.  You will see how they live, how they prepare food, dance, enjoy life and what their cattle means to them.

Return to the Lodge for dinner and a quiet night in the wilderness, or should one say, a night where the only music are the sounds of the African night in Kidepo Park.

Day 4 -Kidepo Valley Park:

Another fabulous breakfast as you wake up to the sounds of birds you might have never heard before. Enjoy the wonderful breakfast prepared for you, a true culinary delight and of course there is the presentation.

 Morning guided Nature walk that will prove to be a delight in the wilderness with only you and the wildlife around you.

Lunch back at the Lodge

Afternoon game drive-exploring this fabulous, remote park for its wildlife, its many birds and simply enjoying the experience of viewing animals so close to the vehicle. It is surely a most breath taking experience.

Option for the Day: A one of a kind Hike up Mount Morungole to visit the Ik Tribe that lives up high in the mountains – they have been called the Mountain People of Uganda – today there are about 11,000 of them living in small villages – this is an 6 hour round-trip hike – that would be one of the highlights of this safari. There are no roads to get there, only trails. If you want to visit the Ik Tribe on Mount Morungole you must let us know at time of booking this Safari.

Day 5 – Murchison Falls Park:

Breakfast and we depart for Murchison Falls National Park taking Lunch in Gulu after which we  continue to Chobe Safari Lodge at Murchison Falls is a 5 Star Resort that is simply exceptional and almost all overlook the historic River Nile.Enjoy lunch at Chobe Safari Lodge and pick an outside table near the pool and the River Nile and take in your surroundings while you have a most delicious lunch that you will remember for both taste and presentation.Take a dip into the fabulous swimming pool or relax at the type of room that you picked, all have a deck or balcony where you can relax in the shade while reading an enjoyable book.

Chobe Safari lodge

Dinner at Chobe Safari Lodge in a most delightful setting – afterwards sit outside of your room and take in the sounds of the African Night in the bush. You have a choice of having a room, standard tent (there is nothing standard about it) or deluxe tent.  There are also two cottages to choose from including the exclusive Presidential Lodge.

Day 6 – Murchison Falls Park:

There is nothing like a Breakfast at Chobe Safari Lodge – enjoy another day in the African Wild  of Uganda.

After a leisurely breakfast we take the journey to Paraa Lodge. This drive 3 hour drive is like a game drive since you will see much wildlife along the way and your driver-guide will stop for you to get the best view and take pictures. There is a pop-up roof in the vehicle so that you can stand and maximize the enjoyment of what you see before you.

We check into Paraa Lodge which is a sister lodge of Chobe Safari Lodge. You have a choice here of the standard rooms, rooms with air-conditioning, suites, or the fabulous Queen’s Cottage which is like a private retreat down by the Nile River. Paraa Lodge is the best lodge at Murchison Falls Park when it comes to location – it is conveniently near all major activities in the park such as game drives, boat rides and fishing for Nile Perch.

Lunch at Paraa Lodge which is a delight – sit and overlook the pool and the River Nile in the  distance – it does not get any better than this.

Late Afternoon Game Drive with Uganda Wildlife Authority Ranger on board of vehicle to point out wildlife and birds that you might otherwise miss. See large herds of Elephants and Rothschild Giraffes and Cape Buffaloes here, antelopes of various kind in great numbers, Lions, the occasional Leopard, Savannah Birds, Warthogs, Hyenas and much more.

Day 7 – Murchison Falls park:

Choose to have breakfast or go on a sunrise game drive in the African Wild of Murchison Falls Park which is simply an awesome experience. Game Drives begin at dawn at about 6:30 am and you can see the sun rise over the Borassus Palm Tree studded Savannah taking in the various wildlife before you such as the predators returning from the hunt.

Lunch at Paraa Lodge – relax by the pool, sit on your balcony or veranda with a good book like the Abyssinian Chronicles and enjoy the day.Late Afternoon Game Drive – each game drive is a different experience and we do not hurry you along, since this is a private safari, you are in control of the vehicle and the game drive.

 Day 8: Breakfast and we take the morning boat launch up the River Nile where you will see countless of hippos, crocodiles, elephant herds, buffaloes, antelopes, monitor lizards and water birds. This is one of the highlights at Murchison Falls.

At the bottom of the falls we disembark and take a guided climb up besides the falls with guide being cooled down by the mist from the falls. At the top of the falls we are met by the driver guide and take the short drive to Budongo Forest.

At Budongo Forest we have lunch at the Budongo Eco-Lodge after which we go off and track chimpanzees here which is about a three-hour walk with guides and trackers bringing your up close to our closest cousins – the chimpanzees. There are other primates that you will see here and countless of birds.

Afterwards we drive back to Kampala arriving after 8 pm in the city at your lodging, longer if we drive you to Entebbe Airport.
