3 day Wildlife Safari in Akagera National Park – Rwanda. Akagera National Park is a 2500 square kilometer sprawling Savannah Park that is endowed with stunning scenery and it represents an African Wildlife Safari without the crowds and when visiting Rwanda – this park is not to be missed. On a three day safari here you will spot many of the over 500 birds found here, herds of elephants, zebras and buffaloes, leopards, lions, spotted hyenas, giraffes, 11 species of antelopes including the rare Sitatunga Antelopes.
This safari can be done using moderately or upmarket priced Lodging.
Day 1 – Akagera National Park:
The 3 day Wildlife Safari in Akagera National Park – Rwanda begins-Depart Kigali at 7 am and to Akagera National Park – Rwanda’s only Savannah Park. On the way to Akagera we stop in the village of Nyakarambi to see how Imigongo Cow- Dung paintings are created by the Kakira women co-operative.
This art-form that was invented by Prince Kakira and was used in decorating houses using cow dung. The dung is dried and mixed with colors made from organic material like plants to create mostly white and red paints. The paintings are quite attractive and vibrant in colors.
During the afternoon – take a boat safari on Lake Ihema where you can see the water birds including the rare Shoebill stork at times.
You can see Hippos, Nile Crocodiles, animals that come to water along the lake such as elephant, antelopes of various types, buffaloes and more.
Afterwards return to your lodge and enjoy a sundowner on the deck of the main lodge where at dusk they light a comforting fire as you enjoy the sounds of the African Wild.

Day 2 – Akagera Park Game Drives:
We have a picnic lunch with us and afterwards we continue the day long game drive where will to see; impalas, zebras, bush bucks, water bucks, topis, oribis, baboons, giraffes, cape elands and so many others.
Dinner at Ruzizi Tented Lodge.
After dinner we take a nocturnal game drive on which we observe the creatures of the night and hopefully spot a few leopards on the prowl other nocturnal animals.

Day 3 – Akagera – Return to Kigali:
Breakfast and a morning game drive
We return to Kigali with lunch along the way as the 3 day Wildlife Safari in Akagera National Park – Rwanda comes to an end reaching Kampala in the mid-afternoon. We can arrange lodging for you before the first day of the safari and the night of the third day if so needed. This safari is easily combined with a gorilla trekking safari or a visit to Nyungwe forest.
