For most being with a Gorilla Family on a Gorilla Trek where you have one hour with a Gorilla Family, is the Experience of a lifetime. The one of a kind Gorilla Habituation Experience takes Gorilla Trekking to a whole another level. Your incredible up-close Gorilla Encounter is 4 hours in length
This is still a relatively new activity in Uganda, however thus far, it has been a success thus far. The two Gorilla Families being habituated have been in the program for some time and are used to human beings observing them
This one-of-a-kind Experience is not offered in any other country, it is a Uganda Gorilla Exclusive with a maximum of 4 participants allowed per group compared 8 participants for a normal Gorilla Trek.
On this 3-Day Luxury Gorilla Habituation Experience Safari take advantage of the short drive from Kigali to the Rushaga Area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Rwanda. Add to that the exclusive Luxury Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge, or another upmarket and you have Luxury in the African Wild of the Gorilla Highlands of Uganda.
You save 7 hours drive time by flying in and out of Kigali-Rwanda, the little known gateway into Southwest Uganda – The Drive time to the Southern End of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a scenic one through vast Tea Plantations, terraced farms on Mountain Sides, the Virunga Volcanoes and then Lake Mutanda in Uganda.
Our Tour Guide will with ease handle all the formalities to during this safari and introduce you to both Rwanda and Uganda.
Arrival Day: Your arrival time and may mean that you will need a room for one night in Kigali. The city is the Singapore of Africa and unlike most other capitals, is clean, safe, attractive and welcoming.
We can arrange for your Pickup and the Top of the Market Hotels in the (that Serena Hotel which offers World-Class Service, an array of room choices and several restaurants. For those that want some history, there is Hotel Rwanda, Hotel des Mille Collines. It has been refurbished since the Genocide – It is not the one you saw in the Hollywood Version (that one was in South Africa), If you have Marriott Points use the Protea Hotel, another upmarket hotel in Kigali.
To enter both Rwanda and Uganda you will need an East African Visa and proof of Yellow Fever inoculation. There is no Yellow Fever in either country but both countries are part of the Yellow Fever Belt that spans the Globe.
If you arrive early – a tour of Kigali just might be right for you where you can try the National Dish – A meat or Vegetable Brochette with a Primus or Muetzig Beer, enjoy a cup of the famed Bourbon Coffee that is rated among the best coffees in the world.
Day 1 – Drive to Rushaga – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda:
We leave your hotel in Kigali or meet you at the airport for the 3-Day Luxury Gorilla Habituation Experience Safari in Rushaga. The drive time to Rushaga is about 3 1/2 hours plus depending on Border Crossing which is an event in itself.
We arrive in the Southern area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and check into the upmarket or luxury safari of choice. There is a difference in price when you consider staying at the exclusive Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge where the cost per night is well above a thousand dollars per night. While upmarket are less than half the price. The choice is yours.
After Lunch – there optional guided Village Walk in nearby Nkuringo plus a hike up to a ridge with great views into the Congo.
At dinner time there is often dancing and music by the local people in the area.

Day 2 – Gorilla Habituation Experience – Rushaga:
Early Breakfast and take your packed lunch from the lodge, have a daypack, 3 liters of water, long trousers, gardening gloves for pulling yourself up on branches, long-sleeved shirt. waterproof boots, hat, rain jacket, use a walking stick and the services of a porter at a small cost.
Meet the researchers, trackers and guides and head for the location of your gorilla family group being habituated and your four hours in their presence and learning their ways.
With the trek in and trek out – the 4-hour Gorilla Habituation Experience – this is an all day trek, not only do you see the Gorillas with only 4 participants (at times fewer), but you learn about the Gorillas habits and ways from the Gorillas and the Researchers.
Return to the trailhead and it is back to the lodge.

Day 3- Return to Kigali:
Forest Walk with the Batwa People in Buinga Forest, the Batwa Pygmies have lived here for thousands of years, they were evicted from the forest when the National Parks were formed in both Uganda and Rwanda in 1991. They have lived in a manner that is not like their traditional ways of times past where they lived in the forest leaving small ecological footprint. Cultural Activities such as the Buniga Forest Walks keeps the ancient traditions alive for future Batwa Generations.
This particular Forest Walk was started with the help of the World Wildlife Fund and many visitors have gained insights as to how the Batwa lived, hunted and gathered in places such as the Buniga Forest which is an Afro-Montane Forest with primates, even Chimpanzees, and birds in addition to the vegetation that is quite different.
The 3-Day Luxury Gorilla Habituation Experience Safari comes to an end. The activities on this day depend on your flight times from Kigali, Rwanda. We will fine tune it to fit you. On the return to Kigali, you do lose one hour as you cross the border from the East African Time Zone to the Central one.
Drop off at airport 3 hours before your flight and the end of your 3 Day Gorilla Habituation Experience, there are not many who have the opportunity to go on this limited habituation experience.
