You can fly either into the south-end of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Kisoro or the northern end of the Park toKihihi, for your Gorilla Trek – drive time from the airstrip to the lodge is about 45 minutes to 1-hour in duration – a wide variety of upmarket, luxury and exclusive lodges are available in either area for you to choose from.
The flight to Bwindi Forest is a very scenic one, especially to Kisoro in the South as you fly over the Gorilla Highlands, the so-called Switzerland of Africa, view the Virunga Volcanoes and land near Lake Mutanda.
This is a three-day – fly-in gorilla tracking upmarket safari to experience with the Mountain Gorillas of Uganda in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has much to offer and its incredible and stunning beauty alone is worth a visit.
There are many activities one can partake in and outside Bwindi Impenetrable Forest including cultural interactions such as Village walks, a visit with original people of the forest, the Batwa People.
This Fly-In Gorilla Trekking Safari is based on landing and departing from Kisero in the South of Bwindi or Buhoma (Kihihi)in the north of the park, however, it depends on your preferences and the availability of permits in the area. This is especially true during the peak seasons of the year from June o October and December to March. Most upmarket, luxury lodges have a seasonal discount during the off-season times of the year that varies with the different lodges. We pass on any discounts to you.

We schedule your flight to Kisoro from where it is a 40 minute drive to Mgahinga Gorilla Park. There are two upmarket luxury Lodges to choose from.

Day 1 – Fly to South or North Bwindi Impenetrable Forest:
Our Driver Guide will pick you up at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe and take you to the to the airport where check-in with Areolink and board the flight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You either fly to the Kisoro near Nkuringo and Rushaga in Bwindi or to the north of the park landing in Kihihi.
Aerolink – Uganda is a subsidiary of Air Kenya operating safe and comfortable flights to parks throughout Uganda including Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Upon landing in either Kisoro or Kihihi you are met by your driver guide who will be assisting you throughout your stay in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Afternoon: A guided interactive village walk where you meet those who live around the park and the culture and ways of people and depending on which village walk you take you will meet the traditional healer and learn how the forest is used to treat people for various ailments. Traditional brewing, food production and cooking, a school visit when school is in session, craft making, blacksmith and more. This can be done in either Buhoma or Nkuringo. In the afternoon in the Buhoma area, you can also visit the forest with the Batwa Pygmies on a Batwa Experience – moderate level of fitness required.

Lodges are located near the Beginning of Gorilla Treks both in Rushaga and Nkuringo for normal Gorilla Treks and the Trailhead for the Gorilla Habituation Experience.
Day 2 – Gorilla Trekking:
Optional Choice: In the southern area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest you can now be with the Mountain Gorillas for four hours. There are two groups in the Rushaga area that you can visit on a Gorilla Habituation Experience. 4 participants per group – 1,500 usd permit.
Have an early breakfast, take your packed lunch and be at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park Headquarters for the Mountain Gorilla Tracking (Trekking) orientation and meeting with guides and separation into groups depending on which group you will be tracking .
Things needed for Gorilla Trek: waterproof hiking boots, light rain-jacket, daypack, 2 liters of water, some like to have gardening gloves to pull themselves up on vines and branches, long-trousers such as jeans, long-sleeved shirt to protect skin from getting scratched, hat – wide brimmed is best, sunglasses, insect repellent mostly against flies. Dressing right will keep you from getting burned by nettles, scratched by thorns or branches.
A porter’s services is provided in order to free you to enjoy the experience instead of lugging your daypack on the trail.
You will find Bwindi Impenetrable Forest an amazing experience, the flora and fauna, the other primates, mammals, birds, butterflies all become part of the experience of the trek.
The tracking (trekking) can involve some rigorous climbing and hiking but then you are face to face with these powerful yet gentle Mountain Gorillas, observing them just a few meters from you watching the group, mothers with a baby, the gorillas doing their daily routine and you are there. The level of difficulty depends on the group that you are tracking.

Day 3 – Return to Entebbe:
It is breakfast Time- enjoy your time in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – If you have an afternoon flight, you can go on a Buniga Forest Walk with the Batwa People in the morning in the southern area of Bwindi – in northern Bwindi there is a village walk.
Fly back to Entebbe – there you are met by driver-guide and taken to your hotel or assists in making arrangements for your flight out or home. Your 3 Day Fly-In Gorilla Trekking Safari comes an end as we meet you in Entebbe, and arrange your flight out.
