Engagi Lodge – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Buhoma is a labor of love built with local materials and by those who live around Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – a comfortable, affordable up-market lodge that has a distinct class and style at the edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the Buhoma area of the National Park.
Engagi Lodge has eight cottages that overlook Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – they have double or twin beds, private bath, and a deck where you can sit and reflect after you meeting the Mountain Gorillas on your trek. The Main Lodge has is open ended and affords a great view of the forest before you.
The main lodge is made with locally grown Eucalyptus trees and the roof is covered with banana fibers that were produced by local farmers in the area.
The rocks used in building the lodge come from the local area and together with the other natural product they bring the feel of natural harmony to the lodge and to the cottages that make up Engagi Lodge. Electricity is solar powered backed up by a generator.
The hot water for showering is prepared in wood-fired boilers for your comfort. which is common in safari lodges all over East Africa. The food is prepared by well-trained chefs from Kampala and delights the eyes and palate. Lunches and Dinner consist of 3-course meal, delightful breakfasts and great packed lunches for your gorilla trek. Special Dietary needs such as Vegan or Vegetarian needs can easily be met here by the excellent kitchen staff. There are private walks around the property, such as the walk down to the river that you can take for your enjoyment which only enhances your time here at Engagi lodge.
