The Doubling of the Gorilla Permits, the upmarket marketing strategy has caused a backlash from Travelers, Travel Organizations and others far and wide. Travel Weekly, the noted Travel Publication noted that Budget and Moderate will no longer be able to track Gorillas in Rwanda and choose Uganda, they did not mention the less safe Democratic Republic of Congo.
One can understand such feelings but from our perspective, the suggestion is to take a realistic look at “Remarkable Rwanda.” The country itself apart from Gorilla Trekking is a unique experience. It is Africa’s Singapore, clean, vibrant, alive with cultural activities, parks and places that are only found in Rwanda. Nyungwe Montane Rainforest – the largest in Africa, Hiking Trails abound, Lake Kivu, the Costa del Sol of Rwanda.
The Rwandan Strategy to be an upmarket destination will take years to implement and there are lots of budget and moderately priced lodging options to choose from. If you are a Budget, Moderate Traveler – Combine a Safari of Rwanda and Uganda, sans Gorillas in Rwanda and do not miss out on “Remarkable Rwanda.”
