Rhino Tracking on Foot:
This is your opportunity to see the Big-5 while on a safari that includes Murchison Falls National Park.
You track the Rhinos on foot here guided by rangers, a rare opportunity that is also safe in Africa.
You get within 6 to 7 meters of the Rhinos allowing you some great photo – opportunities while seeing these massive, endangered animals at Ziwa Sanctuary in northern Uganda on the way to or from Murchison Falls National Park. If you are visiting Murchison Falls National Park, visit to the Sanctuary is a must do.
You can do a half or full day birding hike, and explore the sanctuary known for its Rhino’s but is also home of 350 bird species found in the sanctuary.
Birds that you might encounter include much sought after species including the most sought after bird in Africa, the pre-historic looking Shoebill Stork, others such as the White Crested Turaco, the Giant Kingfisher, and the Speckled breasted Woodpecker to name a few.
Birding can be done by boat or you can take some guided walks that are from half-day to full-day in length.
You can spend the day hiking in the wilderness of the sanctuary encountering bushbuck, grey duiker, oribi, waterbuck, reedbuck, hartebeest, mongoose, ground squirrels, vervet monkeys, black and white Colobus, and various reptiles such as large monitor lizards, butterflies and interesting insects.
Nature Walks like with Birding Walks can be from 3 hours to longer. Such Nature Walks on foot are with guides who will help in pointing the wildlife that is found here at the Sanctuary.
By adding Nature Walks to the Rhino Tracking, you can make your time here a full-day or even an overnight stay.
