There are now 10 habituated Mountain Gorilla Family Groups available for Visitation at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mahinga Gorilla National Park. 9 at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and one at Mgahinga Gorilla Park – This means 80 Gorilla Permits are available each day of the year in Uganda.
What does Habituated Gorilla Group Mean? It is a process that takes up to two years and it is the repeated contact with humans that overcomes the fears and shyness in the gorillas – it simply means that they are used to human presence and go about their day to day activities while humans are in their presence.
