Uganda – Africa without the Crowds

Even during peak season – there are no crowds in Uganda

Traffic-Jam-Kenya-Game-DriveThe majority of visitors to Uganda are volunteers – they are not tourists coming here to see the wildlife in the park.  For many tourists to East Africa- Uganda is still off of the map.  Travel agents in the West know little about Uganda and they usually have reciprocal agreements of one kind or another with Kenyan, Tanzanian tour operators on the ground.  When it comes to tourism – Uganda is a different world.  Go to a park in Kenya and you might feel like a person stuck in traffic in LA – come to Uganda and it is a total different feel than it is in Kenya or parts of Tanzania.

Climb a volcano in Uganda – it is you and the giant Heathers and Lobelias.  Swim or canoe Lake Bunyonyi – it is simply you and some locals taking their produce to market in a canoe.  Go Gorilla or Chimpanzee or Golden Monkey Tracking – it is you and your group – maximum size of 8 – no crowd. Drive across the plains of Kidepo Valley Park or the Ishasha Plains of Queen Elizabeth Park and it seems like you are the only one in the park and yet the wildlife around you abounds – Uganda is Africa without the crowds…simply amazing.

If you like to be one in the crowd then Uganda is not for you, if you like to experience Authentic Africa without the crowds then just maybe – this year Uganda is your African Destination. I often read travel forums, blogs by tour agents and most of them have never experienced Uganda without the crowds.  Imagine going to the most powerful waterfall in the world, Murchison Falls and you are the only one there – no crowds – no having to take numbers in order to take a picture of the falls or a friend in front of them.

Uganda, no matter what time of the year is Africa without the crowds – it will probably not remain that way but that is the way it is now.  Lonely Planet has declared Uganda as the Best Country to Visit in 2012 – from a personal viewpoint I see Uganda – the Pearl of Africa as the Lost Pearl of Africa that is slowly being rediscovered – A good thing for you if you are planning to go on a Safari in Africa without the crowds – there are no traffic jams here while you are a game drive – most often it is simply you in your vehicle.

If you are going on one of our walking safari hikes – may it be in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Lake Mburo or the Foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon –no crowds – at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – there is not one starting point for its 9 Gorilla Groups that can be tracked – but there are four – never are there the masses as found in other countries.

Uganda is Adventure without the crowds – Uganda is Primates without the crowds –Uganda is Wildlife without the crowds – Uganda Cultural activities without the crowds-Uganda is still Authentic Africa as you imagine it to be without the crowds – Uganda is Africa Condensed into a small Country without the crowds – Uganda is Africa non-commercialized without the crowds –Get away from the crowds this year –Visit its untarnished Pearl with its wildlife, Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Scenic Wonders, its people…from Uganda…jon
