The drive is through charming and idyllic African Villages with lots of Banana Plantations, the color green is everywhere and we will stop wherever you want for some picture-taking opportunities.
The drive to the Ferry Crossing at River Nile at Paraa in Murchison Falls park from Kampala is about 6 hours in length – yet there is lots to see along the journey
We cross the Nile by ferry and check into the up-market Paraa Lodge which is the best location to fish by boat along the Nile and the closest location to the wildlife game tracks.
Paraa Lodge offers the best value for up-market lodging – has very comfortable rooms, a swimming pool and excellent food for breakfast – lunch and dinner. From your room you have a splendid room of the river and at times wildlife passes through the lodge – Air Conditioning is available in some rooms for an extra charge.
Standard rooms have either double beds or twin beds and have self-contained bathrooms – triple twin rooms can be arranged – there are also suites and the luxurious Queen’s Cottage in its own private setting that sleeps four, has two bathrooms, a sitting room and lots of privacy overlooking the Nile where one can see lots of elephants and hippos.
Lunch on the veranda where once again you have a view of the River Nile
Late afternoon Game drive with Ugandan Wildlife Authority Ranger on board the vehicle- so between the experienced driver-guide and the UWA ranger there is not much that you will miss seeing. The Safari Vehicle is equipped with pop-up roof so that you can stand for better viewing and picture-taking.
On the game drive you can see Lions, Leopards, Elephant herds, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Warthogs, various kinds of antelopes, Monitor Lizards, an abundance of various birds and more. Game drives are about 2 1/2 to 3 hours in length – afterwards return to Paraa Lodge.
Dinner at Paraa Lodge on the veranda from where you can also have a great view of the sunset over the Nile.
Day 2: Breakfast and it is Fishing day at Murchison Falls. You will have a proper boat and guides to assist you on your day of fishing in Africa. All tackle is available for you and you are off in search of Nile Perch, Catfish of various sizes and Tiger Fish again various sizes-there are also smaller fish, some which are used as bait. Nile Perch can easily run around 75 kilos here – amazing for a fresh water fish.
Fish in the pools below Murchison Falls – wildlife near you, the falls beside you, the setting alone is amazing. This is sports fishing at its best in the African Wild. A combination of great fishing and fantastic scenery – you are here – the fish are about to bite – get ready.
Come back to Paraa Lodge for lunch and return up the River Nile toward the falls to fish again
Day 3: Breakfast at Paraa Lodge which is always a special delight here our second day of fishing begins – a bit of advice…wear long trousers, long-sleeved shirt – no blue shirt since it attracts tsetse flies. Deet-based products do not work against Tsetse flies, the one product that works with both is the Australian RID product available on the Internet but not on Amazon or any US online outlet, however you can buy it on-line from Australia or the UK.)
After fishing return to Paraa Lodge for lunch
Afternoon more fishing near the Falls
Dinner at Paraa Lodge
Day 4: Breakfast or early game drive first- the choice is yours – game drives can begin at 6:30 am at the crack of dawn here and sunrise is a bit later and there is nothing like the seeing the sun rise over the Borassus Palm Tree studded Savannah which is unique to East African Savannah, found in Uganda at Murchison Falls Park and Kidepo Valley Park.
Please Note: This 4 day safari can easily be adjusted for more fishing time – please let us know.
