Best Safaris in Uganda

Go on a Safari in Uganda

A Safari in Uganda is for most the trip of a lifetime to Africa.  You can go and choose prepackaged Uganda Safari Tours, but many leave out the things you might really want included in your Uganda Safari.

Over the years we have come to see what people enjoy the most in a safari in Uganda that will make your time in Uganda complete and enjoyable for you.  For many Mountain Gorillas are a must, others want to include the chimpanzees and other primates in Uganda, others want only a short safari due to time constraint, while others come to Uganda with lots of time on hand and can visit most of the Parks and other destinations in Uganda

Many visitors have a few days and so it comes down to making the best choices for maximum encounters with the fabulous Uganda Wildlife, chimpanzee, gorillas and countless birds.

You pick some of our recommendations and we can create you the safari that is within your budget, time restraints and yet meets your expectations and hopefully way beyond.

Uganda has much to offer from the adventure orientated traveler to those desiring to see the 1040 birds of Uganda.

The fact is that

Uganda, for the last 40 years , has been untouched by mass tourism; one can venture into the authentic Africa for your own personal Safari. Here you can visit Bwindi Forest with its gentle giants, the gorillas, where you can climb high mountains and glaciers right on the equator in the Rwenzori mountains.  Uganda, where you get on board of a white water rafting cruise and have a grade five river experience, afterwards calm down with a 143 foot bungee dive into the source of the Nile...

Ride through the savanna plains of Queen Elizabeth or Murchison's Falls Parks.  Ride the Nile for three hours  on a boat and observe wildlife on the shores...visit villages, Ugandan schools and meet Uganda's greatest treasure, its people... From the Karamajong in the North to the Buganda Kingdom in the central area of Uganda.  There are so many tribes and ethnic groups in this land called Uganda that you will have to come a few times to meet them all.

Once you visit Uganda, you will see how you can return to this country that has been "gifted by nature." I have been returning here since the earliest nineties and Uganda has been my favorite destination in East and Central Africa.  I have enjoyed the sandy shores of Lake Victoria (2nd largest lake in the world) beneath majestic palm trees that provide shade on a warm day and allow one to simply relax a few days...and if you do get bored you can go fishing and you just might catch one of the largest fresh water fish in thMap of Ugandae world...the Nile Perch...I have heard tales of 350 pounds...hmmm....I have been in the shadows of the Ugandan Alps, the "mountains of the moon or Rwenzori Mountains."  I have been on a boat that traversed the placid Nile after it plunged down 45 meters from above, I have driven amongst craters where Buffaloes can be seen below at the waters edge, I have seen the terrace farming near Rwanda where the hills shine forth in the brightest green,  Uganda is waiting to be discovered by you...in your way and in your style, an experience waiting to happen.

Besides, the Hotels are fabulous, from the Serena to the Shangri-La...all meeting various needs and tastes and size of wallet...Restaurants, from Ugandan pork joints, to Fang Fang Chinese and Haandi North Indian cuisine.  From Belgian food to Japanese, from Thai to eclectic and again all of them come with different price tags, and no matter what, we can help you find the right place for you to celebrate your stay in "the Pearl of Africa."

Things that will help you in your choices regarding your Safari in Uganda.

Quality Safaris in Uganda - low in price without compromise

Bwindi Gorilla Tracking in Uganda - our Number 1 Recommendation

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Mountain Gorilla tracking (trekking): The Mountain Gorillas are the prime reason many visitors come to Uganda.  Bwindi Forest is the place to visit for your Gorilla Tracking experience and it certainly would be one of our recommendations for those who want to get up close to the Mountain Gorillas of Uganda.  You can include a two day Wildlife trip to Queen Elizabeth Park, climb the volcanoes of Mgahinga Gorilla Park or stop off on the way to or from Kampala and spend a night seeing the Wildlife and Zebras of Lake Mburo Park.

Chimpanzee Tracking Recommended in UgandaChimpanzee Tracking in Uganda:  Uganda is the place not only for Gorillas but on our recommend list for Chimpanzee Tracking.  This can be done as a three day trip to Kibale Forest Jungle along with 12 other primates at the park, forest elephants, birds and of course a jungle in East Africa.

You can also add on Chimpanzee Tracking if you are visiting Murchison Falls Park with a side visit to Budongo Forest where you will chimpanzees.

At Queen Elizabeth National Park in the Kyambura Gorge area chimpanzees can be tracked and added on to your visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Murchison Falls Park - The recommeded all around Safari ParkMurchison Falls National Park:  This is the recommended park if you have three days in Uganda and want to see the greatest variety of wildlife, see the most powerful falls in the world, take a wildlife and birding cruise on the Nile river and see countless Elephants, Giraffes, Lions, Buffalo, countless of Hippos, Crocodiles, Lovable Warthogs, Hyenas, and a python here or there and a few Monitor Lizards in the savanna grass.

At Murchison you can easily add on Rhino and Chimpanzee tracking and you have a complete safari in three days.

Lake Mburo National Park - Recommended for short wildlife safarisLake Mburo Park Wildlife Safari: If you have only one or two days to spare and want to see African wildlife and Birds in Uganda.  We recommend a Mini-Safari to Lake Mburo National Park.  A taste of Uganda - just 3 1/2 hours from Kampala, you can create a one day safari and get a glimpse of the wildlife of Uganda including those lovable zebras.  This is a popular destination for airline personnel that are on a Kampala lay-over.  Overnight safaris can be arranged and budget or up-market accommodations are available.  Our one or two day recommendation in Uganda.

Queen Elizabeth National Park a recommended park to visit.Queen Elizabeth National Park:  Here is a park that is in Western Uganda in reasonable distance of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Kibale Forest Jungle and its chimpanzees. near Rwenzori Mountains and Mgahinga Gorilla Park.  It has the largest concentration of hippos in Africa, largest concentration of Birds, you will fin the tree climbing lions here during daytime hour, go chimpanzee tracking, ride on a boat along Kazinga channel...a truly fabulous place for a wildlife safari and is a place we recommend to visit in Uganda.

Mgahinga Gorilla Park - One of our RecommendationsMgahinga Gorilla Park:  The park itself is fabulous, one of the most scenic wonders in Uganda.  The fabulous Lake Mutanda is near and an afternoon on the lake in a canoe is worth the trip.  Lodgings are conveniently located so that you can go to both Bwindi and Mgahinga.  Mgahinga is known Gorillas (though they migrate in and out of park) Golden Monkeys, Volcano climbing trips, bamboo forests, wildlife and birds. This park is often neglected, but we have it on our recommended list and you will most certainly agree once you get here.

Kidepo Valley National Park - On the Uganda Recommended ListKidepo Valley National Park:  This is one of the most amazing parks in East Africa.  Probably the least visited because of its remoteness and ability to get there.  Once you arrive, the rugged beauty, the abundant wildlife are simply awesome.  Located in the Northeast corner of Uganda, bordering Kenya and South Sudan, home of the Karamajong people, one of the most unique and interesting people groups in all of Africa.  This park is on our recommended list in Uganda.

Nile River White Water Rafting:  The best location for White Water Rafting in Uganda, located 1 1/2 hours from Kampala.  This can be the perfect daytrip spend on the historic Nile river, flowing south to North toward Egypt.  From mild to wild, from family floats to Grade 5 rafting.  For many this is not be missed while in Uganda.  Stay overnight and visit the source of the Nile, Mabira Rainforest and return to Kampala the next day or go on to a Safari.  We most certainly recommend this wonderful adventure in the heart of Africa.
