Rushegura Group Located in the Buhoma Area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

One of the larger Gorilla Groups -Rushegura Group (also referred to as R Group)

Rushegura Gorilla Family Group was habituated beginning in 2000 and opened for visitors in 2002 in the Buhoma area for gorilla tracking. The Rushegura is a splinter group from the Habinyanja group. They are very active in the Buhoma area and cover a wide territory - at times you can even find them in the Batwa village, Buhoma Camp, and even the UWA park office Bwindi Waterfall and some of those sightings are simply a bonus. They also venture out into the Banana groves near them. There are presently 19 Gorillas in the Rushegura Family.

Present State of Rushegura Group: The group is in good health presently. They are found in the Buhoma area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
