3 Days Chimpanzee and other Primates’ Safari

Kibale Forest National Park

This is an amazing place, a lush tropical rainforest with a most fascinating diversity if animals.  This is one of the most beautiful and stunning forests in all of Uganda.  It is home to over 1450 chimpanzees, there is also the red colobus monkey and the rare I'Hoesti monkey.  The forest has one of the greatest diversity and density of primates in all of Africa' totaling 13 species.  The park also hosts over 325 species of birds.  There are a number of mammals including forest elephants, buffaloes, bush pigs, duikers and bats.  If you look closely you may see some of the reptiles and amphibians as well as countless of colorful butterflies.

There are two major tribes living around the park, the Batooro and Bakiga.  Both tribes utilize the forest for food, fuel and building material, as well as medicines.  The park is a protected area overseen the Uganda Wildlife Authority which allows the local people to have controlled and sustainable access to selected forest resource.  The community receives 20% of the park entrance fees for their development projects.

The park is 290 km from Kampala and only 12 from Port Portal.  This park may be seen on its own or combined with other Parks such as Bwindi Forest and or Queen Elizabeth National Park.
