bulletThere are schools and there are schools.  The Bishop Bavin School in South AfricaBishop Bavin School works out a concept found in  Zulu culture called Ubuntu: This African term, though difficult to translate fully into English, means in essence, "A person is a person through other persons." In other words, it is not, "I think therefore I am;" but rather, "I am human because I belong. Friends of Uganda WorldwideFriends of Uganda Worldwide:  Ordinary people from around the world making a difference in the lives of Ugandan children.  They are also doing sponsoring some work amongst the children of Northern Uganda where there is the greatest need in that country.  This site and its work is certainly a compassionate work in action in the Harambee Spirit of working together and release of the faith and love of people from around the world who call themselves "Friends of Uganda."

bulletFields of Life:  This site exudes the spirit of the Harambee Award - Compassion in AFields of Lifection.   I have seen a lot of organizations work in Africa, but here you have someone who pours into Africa beyond what they receive. Gracefully touching a community outside of Kampala in a truly effectual manner.  Educating children, bringing health and well-being to a community, agricultural skills besides hope and faith.  I have seen the work firsthand and spoken to the teachers, workers, students and the many others being empowered toward self-sufficiency.

bulletAbaana - means Children in Lugandan but it is also a faith based ministry run almost single-Abaana - meaning Children in Lugandanhandedly by a young man with a dream for Africa's children - to give them a future and a hope, one child at a time.  Not only does he make sure that there are money for projects, he does the website and more.  He also gathers like minded individuals with a passion for Africa's children to help with the task at hand - the Harambee Spirit at work once again.

This is a group that one can trust and believe in.  They have banded together to make a difference in the lives of children who otherwise be tossed onto the garbage heap of life.  It is good to see when a group of people attempts to change their world and truly in the spirit of Harambee.
