Apply for the Harambee - Compassion in Action Award

 

The "Harambee Award" is only given to sites that promote the ancient African Ideal of Harambee, the pulling together of People and resources to help someone who cannot help themselves.  It is compassion in action.  It was the cry of the first President of Kenya, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta when he took over a country of many tribes and culture, the pulling together for  a greater good.

The Award is given for excellence of  original content and design, graphic use and site theme flow.  For ease of use and navigation.  Mostly for presenting the Harambee Spirit of compassion in action.  (Often great sites apply, but are not about the intent of the award of people helping people in the Harambee manner) 

  • All in site links must be working

  • All graphics must visible and linked

  • No under construction signs

  • Logical navigation and ease of use (site directories would be helpful for larger sites)

  • A manner to contact owner of site such as email (guest book)

  • Site must have an awards page.

  • No site of commercial nature will be considered

 

The Award is not just given to sites about  Africa, since the spirit of the award goes way beyond the geographical region to the world and people at large.  It is however only given to sites that represent the Harambee Spirit of people pulling together.
